This metal is not 15n20. It does not have any nickel in the metal and as everyone who works with Damascus the n in 15n20 stands for nickel without any nickel content it doesnt resist the acid when you etch it this is some kind of medium carbon or low carbon metal and the other problem is this metal is paper thin almost to thin for forge welding do not buy if you want high contrast Damascus made from this!

Not sure this is 15N20, did an etch on my Damascus billet and the steel did not shine like 15N20 should, wasted a lot of time to not get the results i should have

Open it up and start grinding or wipe it down and its ready for some forge welding. Would recommend.

I made a knife with 1095 and 15n20 and the 15n20 shows up as 1095. No contrast at all

These two pieces were very thin, pay close attention to the measurements, unlike I did but thats fine for what Im going to use them for anyway, (Damascus steel).

This is not 15n20, forge welded with 1095, looks indistinguishable after etching.

I purchased 15N20 and 1084. The only things I can be sure of is that the 15N20 is not 15N20 and the steel is hardenable. This 15N20 offered no residence to the ferric chloride and so I got no contrast in my billet.

Pro’s -The steel I got ! Was great all I had to do was chemically wash it, put a little sanding and it was ready to stack. Con’s - need more! A little thin for me. But I will order again. The project was bigger than I figured.

Both pieces were straight as an arrow and they had no rust or defects at all I will definitely buy from them again great product

Was surprised at how smooth each piece was. Just cleaned the protective coating, and off to fun I go.
