This only works for those hard thicker plastic type lines. Dont do what I did and get it thinking you could use it on the kits you see here on Amazon with all the goodies included. I love the kit I got, dont get me wrong, but I didnt realize the main line isnt that hard plastic type. Its a softer one, and you can not get this punch through it. It will stretch and stretch and stretch. Yep, I tried it to that degree. Not a single hole. It didnt hold the 1/4 line like its suppose to, either. So you can install the ends and such? Nope. I might be an idiot though, so .....

I just used this tool for the first time a few minutes ago to make a hole in a main line tube (1/2 Toro Blue Stripe) and insert a small tube with a drip head. 1. The hole puncher worked very well. It so easily punched a hole that I advise to be careful you dont punch out the other side. A few careful back and forth movements with a bit of pressure, and you have your hole. Also, the tip is sharp. Dont poke a hole in your finger and save the protective cap the tool comes with. 2. The other end made it very easy to insert the drip line into the hole. I know some people said they had problems with this, but I just threaded the line in like it showed in the video, put a finger or thumb over the open edge of the channel the line goes in, and inserted the line into the hole at very slightly off 90 degrees with a bit of pressure and a few back and forth movements. The tool seems well made. I highly recommend this product for maintaining your drip system.

I prefer the type that cuts out a plug of the tube instead of this spike.
