After airing the product out and following instructions to clean the mat its working great and the smell has faded. I appreciate the seller reaching out to me immediately to share the instructions again to solve my original concern, I would have def needed them if they were thrown out by accident (keeping on file!) :). Very happy and pleased with this mat, the size and the quality. Thank you! My review is based on smell, wow! Its strong! I kept ours in plastic until I can air out or do as it suggests, clean in vinegar from time to time to restore its newness. Ive had these in the past for art classes and have aired them out just fine. Hope I can air this one out just the same because the smell is awful. Large mat, were excited to put it to use. No complaints otherwise, quick delivery and came with instructions on how to care for it.

I am impressed with the quality of this cutting mat. It was delivered flat in a large box, which I think helped it to retain its overall shape. It has a slight odor; but very unnoticeable unless you put your nose right up to it. The fact that it is 2-sided is also a plus. Both sides are identical. Markings are in inches (both sides) and seem to be quite accurate. An overall good value.

This cutting mat has two sides, so it will last longer, especially if rotated after each use. I chose the 12 by 18 inch style because it fits easily on a desk or table top leaving space for utensils and free movement. This improves safety while in use. Lines are designated on both sides and improve accuracy while cutting. The product is made to self-heal; a great advantage for use over time. Mine has shown to self-heal already. it is a fine quality product at a fair price. I recommend it highly. Cathy

Good price for what you get. The only thing I would worry about is if the yellow lines end up blurring over time because those don’t seem to be part of the self-healing component of the product. We’ll see how it goes the longer I use it. If it fades to the point of unusability, I will update this review

A couple of years ago I jumped back into quilting after 30 years off. A friend recommended this self-healing mat, a rotary cutter and quilting rulers for cutting pieces. Oh how my life has changed. In just a few days, a couple hours a day, I cut out all of the pieces for 120 blocks. Using the mat, its ruler lines and angle lines, made this process so easy! I cant believe I waited so long. After cleaning, the cuts on the mat pretty much disappeared and the mat looked new again. I dont know what it will look like after a few more quilts, but so far, its great.

This is a perfect size cutting mat for cutting medium to smaller size items. I love the color, it came with a very detailed instructions for how to care for it, how to store it, and how to make sure it lasts and serves its purpose for a long time. The service from the seller was above par. I would highly recommend this item if you sew, quilt, or craft to protect your working surfaces. It has grid lines to help you align and measure for straight and even cutting. Use with a rotary cutter. It is top quality!

The cutting mat arrived on schedule, along with the rotary cutter. For the quilting project i purchased the cutting mat for, it was a beginner small quilt so, for which a large percentage of the project was done before I ordered and received the subject cutting mat, so I only did a couple of cuts for the borders, Thus I only needed to use the cutting mat a minimal amount and dint really test the self healing property. As far as I did use it, it performed perfectly. I really liked the quilting class, so expect that I will to make good use of this mat on future projects, and will likely need additional, larger mats and other quilting tools.

I do a lot of work with utility knives and exacto-type knives in making costumes. This particular mat is REALLY tough and resistant to nicks and tears. The surface is impermeable enough to quickly clean up glue scrapes. What is great (and I didnt expect) is how easily this rolls when I want to store it. Suggestion for improvement: this mat has angles measured and separate graduations at inches and half-inches; it would have been great if metric units were included. When in use, it is the base for my craft workstation, and it is of course, recommended.

it was surprised and in awe of this mat. it looks like they put two mats together for double sided mat. its heavy in a good way. I have never seen quality in another mat before like this one, and the price is to good to be true. used it once so far and it looks like brand new. I look forward to using this mat for a long while. my last mat only lasted 6 months. i do a lot of quilting. I am looking forward to this mat lasting longer. it sure looks and feels like it will. this mat had no smell to it like some reviewers said and arrived flat in great condition.
