They are designed to replace the original HP 58A toner cartridges and come with pre-installed chips that allow them to work seamlessly with your printer. Having a chip in your toner cartridge means that it will be able to communicate with your printer and send the toner level info. I highly recommend using cartridges with pre-installed chips as your printer will not detect the cartridges without them and youll have to carefully take the chips out of your old cartridges and transfer these chips to the replacement cartridges yourself, which will be a challenging and time-consuming task. Save your time and sanity and get cartridges with chips.

These are quality printer cartridges and they work great with my HP LaserJet Pro M404. They install very easily. Just remove from the bag, remove the protective paper, and slide it into the printer in the same position as the one you removed. The printer cartridge snaps right into place. The printer displayed the message: Genuine HP cartridge installed (or something along those lines). Printed a test page with no issues -- the blacks look as expected, and weve been using it daily for about a week now. A great, much lower price alternative to the HP 58A printer cartridge. Were glad we found these printer cartridges.
