Great quality filters at a great price.

First, let me say we are using this for a young turtle, about a year old. If you dont know, turtles are messy. The hype for these filters says that they should last four to six weeks. They probably mean when used with fish. With the turtle, we get about two weeks before the filter clogs. We wash off the filter and put it back for another week, and sometimes it will last still one more week if we clean it again. Usually we can three to four weeks from a filter. There are some things we might be able to do to extend that life--feeding the turtle in a separate tank is supposed to be a good way to keep the main tank clean, but we arent prepared yet to do that. Given the tough environment these filters have to deal with, they seem to work well. Perhaps they deserve a fifth star, but Im being a bit reserved since I dont know how they would perform under different conditions.

I buy these for my sons 20 gallon aquatic turtle tank. Its much cheaper buying them here compared to pets Martinez. Overall, they get the job done. I do feel like the tank gets diety pretty fast but I dont know if that is due to the food or the filter. I may have to try a different brand for a while to see how it compares.

I am grossly disappointed with the Aqueon quiet flow system in general. I bought a 54 Gallon Aqueon corner tank and the largest over the back aqueon filter system that would fit (quietflow LED 50) only to discover it is ridiculously undersized. I was changing these filters cartridges every few days and my water looked terrible. Switched to a canister filter and my water is crystal clear, low maintenance and tons of flow. I keep these around as a back-up now in case I ever have canister issues. It feels like the sizing is for a single, low bio load fish rather than a properly filled tank. The exact same filter fits a 20 gallon and a 50 gallon, both use a single filter each so in a 50 gallon filter this means you are using a grossly inadequate filter cartridge. The filters clog very easily and have virtually no charcoal inside. Looked liked a nice solution at first, live and learn. These probably work great in smaller tanks but the larger size ones beware.
