The lights are functional, but do not look like the picture. The photo of the product has a blue outer plastic that is blue in color. What arrived has a clear outer plastic.

I love that they connect to the ones I bought a couple of years ago and those are still shining bright. So, the longevity is great with this light and the effect is awesome. Good deal for the money.

I got these for my balcony. They are extremely weatherproof, have outstanding connectors if you need to add more cables (I had to order an extra, I underestimated how much length would be used up by twisting around the rail). I recommend these for sure. There are fancier ones out there (multiple color choices on one strand, blinking lights, patterns, etc.) so if youre looking for something like that Id say shop around a bit. But if you want a basic weatherproof rope light that can be extended, these are great. Very bright, and a nice deep blue. I used two cords on railing that covers three sides of a 5 x 12 balcony. I used small zip ties to fasten securely in place. Looks fantastic.
