> 24 hourThis is my first monitor I have purchased since college years ago. Let me begin by giving a TL;DR: Excellent introductory 144hz monitor that has terrible color profiles out of the box. Let me begin by saying that this is my first 144hz monitor, and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The response time is excellent and the refresh rate makes for buttery smooth performance for gaming, as well as day to day windows and linux use. The build quality is nice, and I quite like the stand for what it is. Its easy to adjust the height with two fingers, and the swivel on the bottom of the monitor stand has been a great for convenience. One thing that I didnt notice immediately was how terrible the calibration on this monitor is out of the box. It is EXTREMELY bright, and the color accuracy is lacking. Dont let this get you down, though. A few quick Google searches will reveal forum posts that explain how to set up windows color calibration profiles properly for this monitor. After following a few guides and tweaking my color and gamma settings, everything looks much, much better, and my eye strain due to the brightness was reduced greatly. This isnt a huge deal, but for the average user who has the take what you get mindset and doesnt think to calibrate the monitor, its worth mentioning that you shouldnt settle for good enough here. Your mileage may vary slightly, but it is definitely worth calibrating this bad boy. In the end, my significant other became jealous of my fancy new monitor. She loved it so much that we went to a local store and purchased a second one for her gaming rig as well! (I didnt want to wait for the device to arrive via Amazon. I know, I know.) Highly recommend. Rating 4 stars due to the poor color and brightness calibration out of the box. Other than that, this thing is bang on. Great job Asus.

> 24 hourMy first review ever. Unfortunately, its for somewhat of a selfish reason as I have a complaint but hear me out first. I would like to point out that this monitor is great. AMAZING refresh rate...has to be seen to be believed. If you are upgrading from a 60Hz monitor you will forever be changed after using this thing. I cannot emphasize this enough. Be aware that you will need a quality rig to take full advantage of this monitor. At 144Hz, you need a graphics card which can push at least 144FPS. Many gamers will find this difficult to achieve at High or Ultra settings (especially with some of todays AAA games). It is truly intended for gamers or more specifically, FPS games such as CSGO (which is exactly why I bought it for my son). If you are looking to do graphics or light gaming, I would consider an IPS panel as they tend to have more accurate color reproduction. This is not your average monitor and will require a quick Google search to get it to look just right but it can be done as others have stated (look up calibration and ICC profile). Now for my complaint. The problem came just yesterday when my son received an NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 kit for Christmas. This monitor has built-in support for 3D which means it can display both games and Blu-Rays in 3D. When playing anything in 3D there is a blue vertical bar about 5 or maybe 8 pixels wide going right down the middle of the screen. This occurs in both games and movies in 3D. It can be hard to tell at times depending on the color of what is on-screen but it is there. For whatever reason, it ONLY occurs during 3D. When going back to 2D, the blue bar goes away. This cannot be by design and in my estimation is a problem with the monitor itself. I feel I should give the monitor a 1-star rating to bring attention to this issue but it is just too good of a monitor in 2D and I think we may have just gotten a bad one. My main issue here is that this problem was not discovered until AFTER Amazons return policy had expired because we never tested 3D until yesterday. Not sure what to do. For those interested, my sons computer specs are as follows: Intel i5 4670 CPU, MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mainboard, 8GB GSkill RAM, 240GB Seagate SSD, 1TB WD Black, Corsair 750W PSU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, LG Blu-Ray 3D drive, Razer DeathAdder Mouse, Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 Stealth Mechanical Keyboard, Logitech Wireless G930, Windows 8.1, CyberLink PowerDVD 14 Ultra, NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Kit Btw, my son pwns all at CSGO.

> 24 hourI moved from a 60hz monitor to this, mind blown. Incredible picture quality. You do have to enable the overclocking to get to 165hz in the monitor menu(the button on the back). If youre on a 60hz and on the fence about upgrading -- DOOOOO IT! *Edit* So good I ordered a 2nd one. These are amazing!

> 24 hourThe hardest part about my computer set-up has been deciding on a monitor... I checked, reviewed, researched, went to stores to look, and took an awful amount of time to find a decent monitor. Finally, I decided to purchase this monitor for the 144Hz speed, dedication to gamers, and the 3 years warranty. Before I go further, I made the right choice! Once you open up the box you immediately see that you have purchased a MONITOR that will do your bidding for serious PC folk or gamers. This is not some cheap junk. It looks great! If looks could kill, they nailed it with the sleek, slim, and modern look. You can tell this is not a bargain store monitor purchase. The stand: awesome. Better than any other junk stands I have had the patience to work with. It adjusts to your liking, firm, simple, ergo, fantastic. Why dont they build all monitors stands like this? Forsake wall mounts. The monitor: FANTASTIC. Once you turn her on (the power button ROCKS) the bright blaze of sunlight will hit your eyes and enter your brain like a slap. Brightness at 100 will let you know that this monitor is capable of burning retinas at a billion candles per inch as well as massages your eyes depending on your mood or quite possibly the fact that you could use this monitor outside (not recommended) and the sun will not dare to outshine it. After the first brightness adjustment, the color on this monitor seemed fine to me, in fact, better than the POS it replaced by light years. Looked around at color recommendations and the simple ones you will find online are fine for any start-up fine tuning. Trust me, color is not an issue. I do not understand why anyone is having problems with color on this monitor... it quite simply ROCKS. 144Hz speed: At startup I went straight to adjusting the refresh frequency from the starting 60Hz to 144Hz. Why? Because this is the highlight feature of this monitor! FAST refresh is better for everything. Why hobble along a 60 mph on the freeway when you know your sports car can get 144 mph without sweating? You simply must max out the frequency for games to enable better goodness on the battlefield, not to mention anything else you do on your PC. Once you put it on 144Hz, you are now a professional PC POWER-user and dare I say it: GAMER. Yes, there is an advantage, YES!! Incredible performance. Price: Got this for the ridiculous price of $209 on a black Friday weekend sale...and then it went up to like $300 after the sale. I would still pay for the $300 on this but keep an eye out for sales that come frequently enough... so worth it. Size: 24 inches is better than 22, and someday the standard will be 27 or 28.. cant wait for the larger variants to become affordable. 24 is great however, very NICE. This monitor was thinking of you, the PC user, with muscle and power under the hood of your build. Regarding HDMI or Display Port users: Why bother? The DVI dual link cable it comes with is the baby you need to plug into your video card for 144Hz goodness. If you add another monitor, fine, deal with it. Regarding speakers: HAHAHAHAHHA, whatever. One wonders why they bothered. Monitors should not come with internal speakers because they always blow due to size constraints and placement. Ever notice how large screen TVs all have sound bars? Its because internal speakers are lame. 3 year warranty: Worth it! Nice!! Ever have a monitor die after a year or so for no reason other than it was its time? I have. Hold on to your original box, register with ASUS, and know that you can get some satisfaction when your monitor goes kaput in the next 3 years. Shipping is paid by ASUS. NICE. UPDATE 2.5 years later: Still rocking it, gaming it, videos galore. No issues or problems. Still have my original box if it twitches before 3 year warranty expires. Its my precious. Considering buying another one just like this for my work desk, so worth it! Great performance, ergo as heck, and value with this monitor!! Boom!!!!

> 24 hourI purchased this monitor before G-sync went live and fell deeply in love with the response rate and the 144hz speed. I am a professional gamer and play games that require twitch movement and speed. I went from a 70Hz 6ms Asus monitor to this whopping 144Hz 1ms monitor and I DEFINITELY notice a difference. From games such as Starcraft and CS:GO, this monitor provides you with the edge in game. I demand performance and this is exactly what it gave me and more. I installed G-Sync following the DIY tutorial on NVIDIAs web site. The installation was easy granted that I have experience dismantling and building computers and components. The overall installation only took 20 minutes for me and really improved my gaming performance. The twitch games such as CS:GO are the kind that I really saw a jump in improvement. The G-Sync along with the 1ms and 144Hz gave games such as BF4, Crysis, and CS:GO a great boost in fluidity and responsiveness. As stated before, my old monitor was 6 years old and this upgrade turned my whole life around. The responsiveness, cleanliness, and fluidity are very noticeable and give me more of an enjoyable gaming experience. I have even restarted various games such as Metro and Bioshock because the gameplay was that much more enjoyable with this monitor and with G-sync installed. If you are in the market for a gaming monitor that is G-sync capable, look no further. For the price you are getting a top-notch monitor with the capability of adding g-sync to really boost your experience. This is by far one of the most important parts of my gaming rig i have purchased and is one that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get the most out of their computer and their gaming experience. Side note: I have recently ditched my 60hz 42in TV from my living room since I am no longer able to bare the slow 60Hz. I now watch TV on my Asus monitor...

> 24 hourFor those of you that wanted a 144 Hz/1ms delay monitor for a good price, this monitor does the job. Please keep in mind that out of the box it does not come with a display port/DVI-dual link cable, so you will need to buy those as well if you want to reach 144 refresh rate. As other reviews said the monitor does have washed out colors, I used the settings below (courtesy of Reddit) which helped it a lot. Settings: -Theater mode -Contrast = 83 -Saturation = 42 -Color temp = user mode with all three set to 83 -Skin tone = natural -Sharpness = 50 -Trace Free = 40 -ASCR = On Getting 144 Hz on Windows 10: Also note the monitor will default to 60 Hz out of the box, even with a new cable. To change this on Windows 10 (with creators update) go to display settings, click display adapter properties, and then click the monitor tab and select the refresh rate you want. (if you have more than 1 monitor make sure to have the right one selected before trying to change the settings). Overall, for the price, its a good monitor, arrived quickly and in good condition. Will probably buy a second one to replace my other monitor, Overwatch looks great on it.

> 24 hourlet me preface this by saying in the past I have had 60Hz monitors with a response time somewhere around 5ms, needless to say this is a major upgrade from the past. The monitor showed up in its base packaging, no exterior box around it to hide what was in it, which annoyed me but is no reason to take a star off from this product. inside it was padded with some Styrofoam and it had some thin plastic over the glossy parts so as to prevent smudges and initial damage from the factory. It also comes with an attachment at the base that helps to keep the power cord and the DVI Cable from being seen. There are three cords included in the packaging, a DVI Cable for video, an AUX Cable for the built in speakers, and of course the Power Cable. the AUX Cable feels rather cheap and probably wont hold up to much wear and tear, however both the power cord and the DVI Cable appear sturdy and of better quality. there are also ports available for other inputs such as HDMI, and Displayport, however it does NOT include those cables, it only includes a Dual-Link DVI Cable. One word of caution, although it may just be my cable, but I tried to plug an HDMI Cable in, but it would not transmit at the full 144Hz, it limited itself to about 60 Hz. it may have been my cable specificly but that is something to watch out for. The monitor comes with a CD that includes some software to manage and adjust various settings, however it is also available straight from the manufacturers website. Now for the features on this! The VG248QE Comes with a built in cross hair setting that displays either a Green or Red with two different types on the screen. I find this is cool in concept, even useful in games like Counter Strike, but I do have a couple of grievances. for one, the Red Crosshairs are offset by about a pixel to the right, this may be me being picky but that bothers the living daylights out of me! also I dont like how fancy the crosshairs are, I would personally prefer a simple + without all the other crap around it. And lastly I wish the image size was customizable. there is too much screen space taken up by it in my opinion, so adjusting the size would be nice! it comes with various preset monitor settings including, Theater, Gaming, Scenery, Night View, sRGB, and Standard. From what I can tell, the changes are as follows: Scenery Livens up the colors, making colors brighter, which you commonly seen done on professional photography level. Gaming brightens the colors as well but with less contrast, allowing you to see figures in the dark shadows. it also Sharpens the images, giving defining figures I have not yet tested the other modes, so I can not comment on them. The screen itself moves 90 degrees clockwise, it will also swivel on its stand, be angled anywhere between 15 and -5 degrees and it can move up and down ~11cm. I love the way you move this monitor, its not jerky, and there dont appear to be any preset spots for it to sit, instead it almost flows when you adjust it up and down. I have also not had any issues of it falling down or repositioning itself in any way thus far. One slightly disappointing thing is that the Viewing angles seem rather narrow, and I find I can not have too many people crowd around it. Now onto the things everyone cares about. The Refresh rate. As I have previously stated up to this point every monitor I have owned has been a 60Hz monitor. Needless to say there is a large difference between 60 and 144 Hz. However I could not tell at first, simply because I forgot to go into NVidias Control Panel and allow my G Card to go above 60 fps. Once I had that figured out, I dont think I will ever go back! The motions of moving, in game or in the browser are remarkably smooth, so much so that it was very unsettling at first. and everything on screen is so much clearer! your graphics card doesnt have to render blurred images because your producing more images each second, so they can be clearer, more precise. This improved refresh-rate made this monitor worth every penny! To Long? Didnt Read? Heres a quick Pros Cons! Pros: 144Hz 1ms Response time multiple preset screen settings Built in crosshair Low in price compared with other 120/144Hz monitors 24 Inches Cons: Did not come with 3D Gear No USB Ports Narrow viewing angle Red Crosshairs Slightly offset All in all, as a avid gamer, I highly recommend getting this monitor, assuming of course that you are getting ~144 fps in game! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 7-31-14 So after using this monitor a while I tried playing on a different monitor at 60 Hz, for those that own this monitor you know, it is painful to try to go back! it feels so choppy and extremely blurred compared with the ASUS 144HZ. I still have had no issues with the screen moving, and not a single dead pixel yet, whereas my old 60 Hz monitor has about three scattered about the screen. I find that I usually play in the gaming mode due to the added ability to see the enemy hidden in the shadows!

> 24 hourOk guys so I got this monitor exclusively for my PS4, with that said I know I will not be able to take advantage of the 144Hz and the other features that the monitor has. The one thing you can take full advantage is the 1ms response time and the Game Plus Function with different recitals, I will be honest I was very skeptical about this feature. Well I unboxed it and put it together, took about 5 mins and fired this baby up. I adjusted the color, etc, etc, simple to do. Well I am a BF4 player so I went into that game and fixed the settings, I went into the training range to try out the game plus thing, at first I was ok so this is knida of cool. I played around with it for a bit just to get my eyes adjusted to it. Well I went into my first TDM match, using the SAR, well I went 39 and 5, went into another game 45 and 10, third game 35 and 6!!! I kept on playing for about 2 hours and every time I would end a match with over 25 kills and les then 10 deaths?? To be VERY honest this game feature helps out so much that at times I felt like I was cheating. I also did notice that I felt that I had an advantage towards other player with response time, I dont know its weird but you WILL notice it! Now before you guys start saying that this is bs, I also have a gaming rig with a ASUS VG278H which I also used with my ps4. The only reason I got this monitor is because with my VG278H I just felt that my reaction time was slow on my part, not on the monitor, this was an issue with me. I am an older guy so my eyes are not what they use to be plus I where glasses, And I also play at my desk. The ASUS VG278H is an awesome monitor too dont get me wrong, but now this smaller one I can focus my eyes a lot better for me. Bottom line this monitor is beautiful and yes you will see people say you will not benefit with this monitor if you are using it for a console. Its your money do what you like with it, but from a PS4 fan this monitor works awesome. The one tip I will give is the TRACE FREE fuction, set that to 60 or 80, not a 100 you will see a bit of screen tearing or like the ps4 is trying to catch up to the monitor, other than that GET THIS MONITOR!!!!

> 24 hourStand is great, anti reflection coating is great, rotation and swivel is excellent as well. Connections on back are all high quality too. Menu supports a gaming reticule (4 to choose from) you can enable, neat feature. I made few adjustments to color and brightness, but overall was pleased with the settings out of the box. I considered getting the 27 but for the price went for the 24 and could not be more pleased. For the price this is a great panel for gaming and CAD work, not so much for serious photoshop due to the color but I am fine with that. There is some banding with high color content and may affect your impression on the panel’s performance, this is not an issue for me as I am gaming and do not need the color accuracy as some may need. I had a 30 Dell High Color panel and the color was amazing, but it was close to 16ms response time and was a hog on the graphics card (2460 x 1600@60hz). 60hz on any panel regardless of color and size is not as immersive as a 120 or 144hz panel. I had tried a 23” 120hz panel when they first came out and liked the speed but was not overly impressed with the ghosting and ended up returning it. The 24” 144hz panel does not exhibit any ghosting or blur at all, you can read text clearly as it is dragged across the screen, not to mention the amount of detail you can obtain during a full blown shootout in a game. If your graphics card can handle the speed, your eyes will thank you for the upgrade. I have not tried any 3D content on this panel and this was not the reason I bought the panel, I bought it strictly for the 144hz feature, this requires a dual link DVI port on your video card and most new cards support this interface now. If you do gaming or CAD and want a LCD panel that launches your experience into the future of this technology; for the price this panel is a great choice.
