This an excellent little tool to have for accurate marks when measuring compared to a pencil or marker. As for making an indentation for drilling, yes this will make a fairly decent mark in wood, especially anything soft of course and it does help guide the drill bit. But… for metal drilling you’ll need a much stronger punch for guiding a drill bit. Just use a regular center punch with hammer.

I needed to drill some holes in angle iron. My old center punch is ancient. I splurged (lol) on these yesterday. They arrived today and I’ve already punched and drilled all my holes. These work perfectly and I’m guessing I’ll pass 1 along to my kids as 1 will last me years. I didn’t even pay attention to the fact that the package also included a spare point. So basically I got 3 usable punches for cheap. And fast. If you read this far. Buy them.

Works as it should but the springs are weak so keep in mind depending on the material you will be working with it could be good could be useless for you

I have had one of these for years, and cant imagine not having one. It is awesome to be able to punch a centering point for drilling with one hand. These were very inexpensive and seem to be made of quality material. I would recommend.

I bought these for me and an installer... one of them seems to work well. However, the 2nd one broke on the 2nd use and cant seem to get it working again.
