I put this to work in a nontraditional use. Toddlers were repeatedly accidentally turning off the instant hot water heat on the outside of the house. They just couldn’t resist the fun of mashing on the buttons. Luckily the controls couldn’t be turned over 120 degrees (so no risk of scalds), but they could hit the power button. Our particular heater didn’t have a “keypad lock” function so I went looking for a way to keep ‘em from hitting the keys. I shaved the edges off of the back of the box and then attached it to the face of the heater with high strength double sided mounting tape. Going on six weeks now with no more surprise cold water incidents when it had been a weekly (or more often) occurrence.
