Like so many other reviews said, this B&D vac has plenty of suction. I used it twice since I bought it, once on the floor mats on our two cars and the second time on two sets of stairs and work bench. Lots of dirt and small pieces were picked up. Both times the battery lasted 15-16 minutes. Recharge time is between 3 to 4 hours. It keeps a good suction right up to shutting down. I feel that the run time should be a bit longer considering how long it takes for the battery to charge. But I’m ok with it because the jobs I’ll use it on should take less than 15 minutes. Jut not to plan on several jobs all at once. I may come back in a while with an update on battery life, but my experience with lithium ion batteries says it should have a reasonably long life.

I got it on Amazon day July 15, at 1 cent more expensive! Wasted my time that day. I still have two B&D NiCad in the garage I think. I gave up on them and others for a couple of years. They are good, perhaps too good. Replacement filters cost a fortune. And the power drops fast. I tried another one with a washable filter. You have to touch the accumulated dust to clean it. No matter how you wash it, its still black. Then you dry the filthy filter, reshape it a little, and put it back. Not a pleasant thing to do. Also, at the time, I waited at least for NiMH battery but they never arrived. When lithium came out they are so expensive. And the first bagless like the Dyson are so large! This is surprisingly small which is a good thing. The battery is heavy but not more than some other models, old and new. Not that you need much effort to vacuum. The older ones are full of dead spaces that are difficult to clean thoroughly. The pivoted tube is more convenient than a fixed straight one, but the advantage is really in the storage. When its folded, it stands upright and stable on the charging stand taking up little footprint. You can put in on the table and its not bad to look at. Indeed, it comes with some tapes to protect the shiny finish just as some electronics. There is an indicator light that blinks when its charging, so you know its in the right position when you put it back. Even when its fully charged, when you take it out of the base and put it back, the indicator will still blink a little. Very reassuring. Its very easy to empty the dirt, and very easy to take the filters off to wash. Indeed, you take the whole thing to wash, leaving the motor and battery with the handle. So you dont need to touch or go near the dirt, not that much. The models I used before all have some metal screws or something else near the suction tube or on the body that made it unsuitable to wash. The prefilter is semi-clear plastic and the inner filter is pleat. The inner filter looks like disposable filters but it is washable. If it doesnt go back to white or light grey after wash, it doesnt matter that much because I dont really have to touch it much if I dont want to. Theres even a pull up handle on the filter. The on-board tools make the price worthwhile. There are a narrow flat tube and a brush that you can pull out from the end of the suction tube. Very convenient and you wont ever need to find it. Even if its attached to the body on other models, the changing of it is a hassle. Yes, Im lazy. Not really, when you take a 10 sec to take off one tool and insert the other tool in, you could have completed the job on this one. I cant find any fault yet. But the plastic packing is not recyclable. Update: this thing is easily jammed with bigger things like pet food pellets. Its not the size of the pellets but the small volume of the collection cup. Even if the cup is not full, the pellets circulate around the container. Because of the compact design, the flap that prevents pellets going back out the tube opens into the path of the pellets inside. It doesnt take much solid trash to jam the tube so nothing goes inside the cup but remains inside the tube. When the motor stops those trapped pellets will flow out from the tube. Of course, theres no problem for dust and fine trash. Therefore I brought also the older model with 16V. The few volt difference isnt obvious during use. Sucking pet food pellet is shown in the listing pictures. One advantage is that this can be wall mounted and it doesnt take much vertical space because of the folded tube.

When it comes to a cleaning appliance, definitely dont try to skimp on the price of a good hand vacuum. I use this to pick up dirt and leaves in my car, along with nooks and crannies in our house that are difficult to get to. It works really well and theres a visible difference within seconds (as there should be with a good quality vacuum!) Black + Decker knew what they were doing with this.

I have (2) of these Black, and Decker 20 volt vacuums. They are powerful, and they get the job done. I highly recommend the!

I had a Black & Decker handheld vacuum for many years that recently stopped working, so I replaced it with this. This has fantastic suction, even better than my old one that I thought was great. Love the brush tool for getting hair out of small rugs and carpeted stairs, and I love that the brush has its own little holder right on the vacuum (as opposed to in the base) so I dont lose it. The design does have some awkwardness that my old one didnt have. Exhaust is in the back instead of on the right side, so if youre not careful, it blows back in your face, and its pretty difficult to use due to that if you need to sit on the floor to get at something. Cleaning it is awkward as well. Its easy to pop open to empty, but the mechanism to get the filter out is in a different place and VERY hard to use. Its difficult to explain, but basically you have to pop half the vacuum off and its not easily done (for me, anyway). I liked the old design where the filter came right out of the same place where you empty the vacuum. Edited to add: The battery does not last long.

Will this replace your canister vacuum? No. The power is nowhere near what you get out of shop vac or a decent canister. That said, who wants to haul out the vacuum from the closet and drag it into the kitchen to pick up a handful of spilled sesame seeds, or pickup small debris on car mats, or capture a stray dust bunny in a corner. This thing is all about convenience. It’s always handy and easy to deploy. The features are nice and it looks well build. I just hope it lasts because we don’t like the idea of creating more e-waste. B&D should be ashamed that they created a product that uses a non serviceable battery. And we should be ashamed we bought it, but there’s no hand vac we found with replaceable batteries. So good enough piece of cleaning equipment. I suspect better than most.

Great vacuum but always a challenge removing and cleaning/replacing the filter. After 3 years and minimum usage, the motor started whining, and the unit became too noisy to use. More than sufficient power and overall design, but it should last longer without replacement.

This handheld vacuum is a compact and versatile option for anyone in need of a handheld vacuum. While it does have some positive features, it also has some drawbacks to consider. On the positive side, this handheld vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver, making it great for quick cleanups around the house or in the car. It also has a strong suction power that does a decent job of picking up small debris like crumbs, pet hair, and dust. The crevice tool and brush attachment are also handy for reaching tight spaces and upholstery. However, the battery life is not great. It only lasts for around 10-15 minutes on a single charge, which may not be enough for larger cleaning tasks. Additionally, the dustbin is small and needs to be emptied frequently, which can be inconvenient. Another issue with this handheld vacuum is the noise level. It is quite loud, which can be irritating if you need to use it for an extended period of time. This vacuum is a decent option for small cleanups: The strong suction power and handy attachments are positives, but the short battery life and loud noise level may be a dealbreaker for some users.

Bought this to aid in the collection of multi-colored Asian beetles that seem to invade our home year-round, vacuuming them up from walls, ceilings, and around windows and doors from room to room. The on-board brush that flips into place protects finishes. The motion in the filter actually dismembered most of the invaders. Its light enough to vacuum above ones head at length. This works great to clean cars and the onboard crevice tool extension comes in handy. The battery lasts a long time before charging.
