> 3 dayLove this movie! The first movie in the set of Neil Simon movies, sometimes called the Eugene Series, this is the best one. Eugene Jerome is such a funny kid! All the characters in this movie are fabulous and memorable. I can watch this over and over! I must say that even though Matthew Broderick plays Eugene in Biloxi Blues (2nd in series), and he is a bigger star, Jonathan Silverman will always be Eugene Jerome to me!

> 3 dayThe film is a well made version of the hit Broadway play, but it somehow loses the potency of seeing the play live on stage. It is difficult to pinpoint why this is, for the cast is excellent and much of the humor comes through, but the serious plight of the family struggling through the ills of the Great Depression fail to register as they did on stage.

Greater than one weekThis was our first viewing of the three Neil Simon Trilogies based on his life. My wife and I greatly enjoyed it. We watched it the first time in the privacy of our home without anyone else with us. When we took it to some lady friends home to share it with them, The 60 year old was offended by some of the subject matter, but overall enjoyed it we think, and the other friend in her who is 69 really enjoyed it and laughed most of the way through the movie. I gave it a four star instead of the five I really wanted to give it, because the movie does have some subject matter that is of human nature but yet offensive to some people. For that reason, I would not recommend it to be viewed by small children or youth.
