Tool worked good but one of the inserts were crossthreaded. I reached out to the company and they never responded. We only needed to replace one but it worked on our 03 grand marquis.

This is a quality tool and does what most other inserts wont. the tool trucks sell the exact kit with their name printed on it for almost twice the price. I am a repair shop owner and longtime mechanic and have used this kit twice since my purchase and it has worked perfectly. If you are dealing with a previous insert that has blown out then you need this kit to fix it right. Take your time and follow the instructions and youll be back on the road with confidence.

The reamer/drill bit with the stop works great, stops where it should. The tap, works great, stops where it should. The cork thing to verify the valves are closed, also works great. Get a air gun blow nozzle deal from harbor freight for like 3-4 bucks and you have everything you need. The bit of trouble i ran into was that my NGK spark plug apparently doesnt seat in the insert fully - a bit too wide. While trying to force it in there in panic mode so that the red threadlocker doesnt weld the thing forever, I tightened it a wee too much... like 100 ft -lbs too much, and the insert cracked, though I believe only the very top cracked. To my surprise, it still runs just fine. Only downside is the spark plug is still not seated all the way down to factory level (I may need a different spark plug, maybe a motorcraft?) and thus the coil is sticking out a bit too much - doesnt sit right above the hold down bolt like the rest of the coils. Its nice to know those inserts make the holes soooo much stronger - 100 ft lbs into a stock thread head is not gonna go over well... The tool is pricey especially if you only have to do 1; but it does take most of the guess work out of it, and is of great quality overall. Other thoughts: When you use the borescope camera and see all of those shavings inside your cylinder, you will wonder if youre ever gonna get those back out... they fly like confetti with a big long air nozzle!

Im not sure if Ive ever used a better kit for problem solving than this one. If you work on these Tritons often, this is a must have.

I just used this kit on a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. One plug on the passenger side had blown out previously and I used a Dorman kit to cheaply repair it. The dorman insert didnt last as long as I had hoped and it soon began to make the tell tale ticking noise of compression blowing by the threads. Any hoo.....Got the kit and the loctite 266. I took the fuel rail off to make more room. Long story short, the new threads went in without a hiccup. I picked up a USB endoscope and ran it down the plug chute and checked them, there were many more nice new threads than the 4 that Ford placed there. New insert and spark plug went in snugly. Note: Make sure you keep going till it bottoms out. I thought at one point dont strip these threads out or you are screwed.. and I actually stopped, scared I would rip them all out and I convinced myself (for a few minutes) that I had seated it properly. I took a step back and figured there was no way that I was gonna rip out all those threads with the torque my arm was giving it, so I kept going wondering the whole time how much a new head was gonna cost me. Then BAM, it stopped solid. Started the car the the purr of all 8 cylinders firing in line. I verified with my bluetooth OBDII reader, that there were no more misfires. Happy Days.

Paid over 200.00. It was supposed to have 8 threaded inserts, but in fact they only send 7. For that much money and having no choice, or time to return it and order a knew one. I need one more insert but it only only gives me the option to return it. So very inconvenient to not be able to fix it right away.

THE STRIPPED PLUG HOLE ON THE TRITON IS A BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT. THIS TOOL TAKES ALL THE GUESS WORK OUT AND PERFORMS AS STATED A+
