Really tough line. Going to use it for many tasks around the house and in the woods. I also plan on using this to suplement some of the cordage in my get home bag.

I bought this to add to my bug out bag because of suggestions from others to an alternative to para cord. This has more then enough tensile strength, a huge roll, all for less price then para cord. i have not had a chance to use it yet but it does appear to be woven in a way that is prone to unraveling quickly when cut, most likely a knot or a lighter to the ends as soon as you cut it. this roll is about the size of a chipotle burrito.

the only thing i could say about this that is a draw back is that it is hard to tie in knots since its tarred. that being said its strong, water and rot proof and holds so much weight that i would never buy anything but this line again for my trot line and bushcraft uses

Catahoula is the real deal , tried other brands (by accident/inattention) and they Do Not compare.

I bought a 1lb spool of #36. When I opened the package I noticed the “distinctive” petrol smell, that seems to go away or I got used to it, no big deal unless you move to California. Otherwise, this stuff is great! I am impressed by how you can unwrap about 6” of the stuff and hold it at darned near horizontal. I tied Prusik knots on various materials, all held really well. Bowlines, trucker’s hitch, and arbor knots hold really well too. Tarring helps keep the twist together. You can also singe the ends and press them to finish the end. The tar is a little tacky but doesn’t get on your hands; I’m not sure what kind of sorcery is this.

I bought two spools of this stuff and have already used about 3/4 of one spool making an A-frame shelter. It seems to be very strong after lashing several joints and putting a lot of pressure on the line. The only thing that bothered me is that it tends to come off the spool easily when trying to hold on to the spool while wrapping the lashings, other than that its fine. Id recommend this product.
