Coolibar UPF 50+ 42 Inch Sodalis Travel Umbrella - Sun Protective

Purchased two for a hiking trip. Sun protection is good, definitely cooler under the umbrella as well. However, of the ribs broke immediately and they turned inside out in the slightest breeze Plus the umbrella is bulky compared to the other auto open/close UV umbrellas that I got from Korea and were half the price. Dissappointing quality for the price.

The fabric used in the umbrella is perfect, however, the ventilation of the umbrella is practically nonexistent. This umbrella cannot be used in the wind. It turns inside out very easily and is a hassle to use. It’s really only useful on a virtually windless day. You couldn’t use this at the beach at all. I used it on a walk in my hometown (not near the coast) on a spring day with mild winds and it turned inside out several times. I haven’t used it since, so it was a waste of money.

This product is very helpful when you have to be outside in the hot sun. Only problem is its weight and somewhat difficult to open and close.

Perfect size, light

I dont want to be quarreling by responding to previous comments regarding this made in China stuff and its quality. The first thing is that the manufacturer doesnt decide how something is made and how good it is. Its the company in US that makes deal with Chinese factories because of their cheap labor expense. keep judging things regarding where something is made is just too redneck. so I dont think its the reason for the umbrellas quality. Tell Coolibar what you think about this umbrellas designd instead of offending others with ignorant complains. Ive been used to the idea of sun umbrella which means not for rainy and windy days. I read all comments before I made the purchase. Now I have been using the umbrella for weeks under Texas sun and it feels so much better with a walking shade. its not huge, but sufficient for individuals. make sure you face the exterior towards wind, and it should be ok. I like the deep shade it provides; really cools you down. its easy to pack to go, but if you want a more solid one get the golf umbrella.

I have 2 of these umbrellas & wish Amazon would make me an offer to get another one of them. With all the recent negative reviews, Im hesitant to spend $48. I had planned to get one for a friend, but feel hesitant because of all the recent negative reviews. They werent available for awhile - backordered, and wish I could feel certain the ones now available wont have the problem with the release button mentioned in reviews. I purchased one directly from Coolibar several years ago for $35. Its still functional, though one of the little black support pieces broke after a couple years - but my grandkids were pretty rough with it, so Im ok with that. I got another one via Amazon in July of 2015 for $45 and use it for rain, snow and sun. So far, so good - no problems at all. I love this umbrella - compact and its liberated me from the expense and discomfort of having to use sunscreen on my upper body, and from having to use a hat.

Nice umbrella

This umbrella made sunny, 90-degree days in a theme park completely bearable. It definitely felt significantly cooler under the umbrella, and it even kept us from getting burned at the beach. We encountered some windy weather, and though the umbrella blew inside-out a few times, it always slid easily back to the right way. It opened and closed easily dozens of times.

I used this for about a week and loved every second of it, until the mechanism began to fail and it started collapsing randomly while in use. Thinking it was user error i was careful not to push the button accidentally and resorted to hats again. Last week I decided to give it another shot and it broke completely. Because of the nature of the mechanism it can’t even be opened and locked manually, so it is completely unusable. I got maybe 7-10 uses out of it so i cannot recommend the item at that cost-per-use.
