> 24 hourI purchased this air purifier in June of 2018 after it was clear I had to do something with the air quality due to frequent fires we have had in Southern California. It works really well during the last almost to be two years. I have not turned on ionizer because I was not clear whether or not it would be harmful and I left the question for the future. Now however, with covid-19, and being inside all the time, and hearing conflicting messages whether or not covid-19 is airborne or not, except it could be spread from the human droplets and other human fluids. The question what we are to do if we are outside, it is windy, six feet is no guarantee we cannot be affected by the infected person complying with the six feet distancing. So being afraid to open the windows and air the house out, I kept the window closed except late in the evening I left them open, each room separately up to an hour each to prevent any draft. I love the fresh air. After a long time not using an ionizer, I decided to try it on. At first it was pleasant, and even generated a slight scent, which was okay but leaving it on for longer, I have mine on auto settings, with one cat in a household, works really well, the scent became heavy, almost nauseating. Dont get me wrong, this is still an excellent product, at least it worked out for me so I am giving it a five stars alll the way, and I agree with all the other reviews having a good experience. The question of an ionizer is not clear to me though since the numbers do not mean too much to me. For the Coway manufacturer, it would be good to explain more about the ionizer installed in this unit, whether or not it generates an ozone which would be dangerous to human, and animal health, and how long we should leave it on to avoid the heaviness that I started to feel/smell. I went on to a google, and researched how long should one leave the ionizer on, and the answer is no longer than five to eight hours. So there you have it. Once I turned it off, the smell was quickly gone, and I left the air purifier continue its quite performance. I had a feeling leaving the egg spread bowl open, it left the after taste on the spread as well, after the ionizer was already off or was a little bit residual in the air still, hard to say but lesson learned, not to leave it the ionizer on for more than five to eight hours. I looked everywhere in the attached booklet that came with the unit but found nothing specific about possible ozone and recommended duration for an ionizer without feeling the heavy ions in the air. The good news is, that according to the google search, ozone smells like a chlorine, and the smell I had was nothing like that, so I am just hoping this ionizer does not generate ozone. It would be nice to have that comment in the instruction booklet. Thank you.

> 24 hourI set up the air purifier and put it on Eco to start. I was concerned because for the first 2 hours the device just showed blue - meaning air quality was good. I was worried it would stay like that all the time. I have a gas stove without great ventilation. I have the unit set up in my dining room - about 15 feet away from the oven(in a straight line - not an open space so a wall separating the unit from the kitchen). The unit turned to purple 3 minutes after I turned the burner on - and red about 5 minutes in - And stayed on throughout me cooking. Once I turned the stove off the unit went back to blue about 5-6 minutes later. The same thing happens if I happen to - ya know - maybe take a puff of something quickly indoors. Even when I’m 20 feet + away the unit turns on to clear the air. On top of all this - I have had issues with frequent bloody noses. That issue has improved since I started running the air filter. This was not the reason for getting the unit but has been a bonus benefit. I think all the above circumstantial evidence does somewhat prove that this machine in fact makes a big difference. I think this unit belongs in every home.

> 24 hourI have two cats and a corgi that sleep with me at night. I keep this purifier in my bedroom between the dog bed and the enclosed litter box about four feet away. The window is almost always open unless it’s very cold out, so a lot of pollens get in, too (especially with this year’s super blooms!). I can’t believe how much this thing catches! Not just the loose pet hair, but the really fine dust as well. I love how quiet and compact it is. My dog is fond of “fluffing” his bed and blankets before settling on them, and the air quality sensor kicks into high gear automatically to catch the fur and dander when he does. He also likes to lay directly in front of it and feel the air flow as its drawn into the lower intake opening. I’ve had this a few months now and am very pleased with the performance. I clean the prefilter and carbon filter about every month and a half; the photo shows just how much accumulated.

> 24 hourI bought this air purifier to use in our guest house which is connected directly to our barn. As you can imagine, the smell from our goats seeps through every nook and cranny and makes for an unpleasant experience. I placed the air purifier just inside the door that connects the two buildings and after just a few hours I noticed a huge difference!! I have left it running nonstop since it was installed and haven’t run into any issues whatsoever. It’s not completely silent but it’s very quiet and you quickly get used to the white noise sound of the fan. Considering purchasing another, so would definitely recommend!

> 24 hourThis is the best air purifier I have ever owned. I love the timer and air speed controls. I like the ionizer option. The filters are expensive from the manufacturer, but better priced on Amazon. This air purifier is working great to keep my house purified due to the current air pollution-wild fire smoke currently in the northeast where I live.

> 24 hourYou can just tell the air is clean. Its in the master bedroom, approx 300 sqft. I am allergic to a dog we got for the family after having dogs most of my adult life prior to having kids. Immune systems change....so this thing helps during sleep and when in the bedroom in general for my eyes. I have zero respiratory problems when in the bedroom as well, not stuffed up at all, but I will preface by saying I dont really have any breathing issues in other rooms the dog is allowed in either. So do not take my word on respiratory quality after purchasing. I used to have dogs as I said so somethings up now and I bought for my eyes solely, another major part of allergies and what hits me the worst. I have eye issues in the house in all other rooms if in them too long, except when spending lengthy time back in the bedroom and of course sleeping. One might think its obvious that sleep is okay even without an air purifier because you close your eyes, but if you know, you know. Without, if your eyes bother you, theyll physically hurt even when closed sometimes, all the way to wanting to scratch the daylights our of your tear ducts during the day. And then when you wake up without better air in your bedroom in this case, youll end up with puffy eyes and massive eye crust, way more than a nights sleep without exposure to the clean air. ALL GOES AWAY WITH THIS. I even have high cathedral ceilings in my bedroom. Starting at 8ft on one side with a pitch to well over 14ft in a room that is just over 300sqft. The auto mode seems effective even for the added cubic feet in the room (remember CADR rates are based on 8ft ceilings), but my wife doesnt like it when it kicks up to medium sometimes while sleeping. It does work though, the dog will literally come in and sleep on the floor at times...and wouldnt you know..Mr. Mighty mitigates her footprint in the air. Run it on high during the day and change the air over as often as possible in a bedroom when no one is in it if its too loud for you and it will be more than effective even if just permanently set to low at night instead of auto unless youve placed it in too large a room. It is too loud on high. High is like sleeping in a hotel room in a humid climate location where they let you change the thermostat temp, but the fan is ALWAYS programed to be on. If you cant deal with that kind of white noise, then do not plan on using this on high when present. It can be barely heard on low and you cant even tell its on. Medium is certainly tolerable depending on your tastes. Easy to clean pre-filter. Put a quarter over the air sensor light at night if it bothers you, its the light, not the sensor itself. Hope the HEPA filter last a long time. It should, my dog doesnt shed and I have mine sitting on a wide dresser at the end of the room across from the bed for a reference point to the distance, placement and noise factors. Perhaps if you are looking for this for a pet that sheds, especially a cat of course, then your filter may not last as long as advertised. I get a sense after all of the research that while these are good for pet allergies too, they are designed for folks that have serious environmental allergies, but this DOES work for me for the dog issue with my eyes. Hope this helps someone.

> 24 hourI have been using this air purifier for months. I can see when changing the filter all the contaminants my body does not have to filter out. However, the air quality detector seems a little off

> 24 hourWe dont have proper ventilation in our kitchen and my husband cooks a lot every day so I was worried about air quality. After trying this out for the first time we could literally feel the difference in the air. I no longer suffer from irritated eyes and lungs when hes cooking. Its very powerful and can even combat the smoke from cooking bacon. Also, its super easy to clean. These things do take maintenance but its well worth it for clean air. For anyone wondering about filter replacement costs who doesnt want to do the research themselves, this will cost you about $55 a year for filters. Really not bad at all for how well it works.

> 24 hourWirecutter rated this tops in a recent air purifier review so we gave it a try along with two other highly rated brands. This is the best of the three. Has an auto mode with a sensor so you can leave on all the time - when in this mode it is silent unless the sensor detects bad air and bumps up the fan speed. Covers a large area. We think it looks pretty cool but we like modern style appliances.

> 24 hourAfter reading reviews in wirecutter and on Amazon I thought it would be a worthwhile purchase. Having it for only a few days, I would recommend this for anyone concerned with their breathing comfort. I was amazed at quickly it turned to right speed when sensing smoke from cooking in the kitchen. And no sooner was the smoke gone, it turned itself back to low speed. Very quiet and looks good while doing great job.
