Works as described. Helped me troubleshoot an issue with an Ethernet connection that was daisy chained. Ethernet clearly needs single ended terminations and cannot be daisy chained. Good learning experience for me. Just wished I knew that before I decided to go cheap on the cables and not run a dedicated Ethernet line for every connector. Costs a little more and requires more connections for the bridge, but no other way to get it done right.

After 4 months of use the lights have started to fail. I would not buy this product again. I would have thought with a name like greenlee it would have been of better quality.

This is a reliable tester. It has never mis led me. It is tough, it gets dropped and banged around like most tools, yet it continues to work.

Straight forward to use, checks for all mistakes. Found my green and white wire vs blue and white wire first-try mistake, streaming upstairs now activated, fine product

I received the tester on time with Prime . The tester comes with a pouch, test cables, and 9volt battery inside the unit. I used the tester on 15 cables with new rj45 connectors placed at both ends at about 30 feet in length. There were 5 cables that needed the connectors replaced, saves time and embarrassment in the long run. This is simply a continuity tester and sold itself to my coworkers who are going to purchase one for their own. If the lights do not work in sequence from 1 through 8 then start inspecting your straight through connectors. The tester is light weight and receiver is very small. I figure the receiver will be the first thing lost because of its size, but if you are looking for an inexpensive tester. this unit wont hurt your wallet. If the manufacturer is reading this review then I would recommend attaching a strap to the receiver as you did with the base unit and make the casing of both units less slippery to hold. I would recommend this to a friend.

For the price, I expected to have issues with the product. I recently moved into a newly constructed home and got the pre-wire whole house ethernet option, out of the 7 drops, only 1 drop was installed correctly. The Paladin Tool helped me find quickly find the faulty installation rather then plugging in a laptop to verify connectivity. I would definitely would recommend this tool, especially that for this price.

This device is well made and has worked reliably for me. Before buying it I read reviews of some other devices available and saw a lot of complaints about cheap construction and unreliable operation. I havent run into any such problems with this Paladin unit. It appears to be pretty robust and not likely to break or fall apart. I particularly like the fact that you can use this on a long run with the remote receiver unit. Its a very simple test -- just watch the lights and make sure they are going in forward order (1 through 8) and not jumping around. Its much better than having to plug the Ethernet cable into a live data circuit and see whether it works.

I was out of town for work and needed a Cat 6 tester. I picked this up at Lowes or Depot. Cant remember. From the first test each unit would give different test results. Itd be perfect on my side but my partner would have on open pair.
