> 3 dayI used this grab bar as both a bar and a towel rack. Maybe some of you have children like mine, who slip and grab for anything around to steady themselves. Usually, their hand finds the towel rack - Time to break out the spackle, buy a new towel rack, get out the touch-up paint, get it all fixed and wait for it to happen all over again. Notice this bar is 36 in length, which means it wont attach both ends to studs in the wall. Instead, this bar is attached to a stud on one end, then has a bar that goes behind the drywall to offer more support. In my case, this was key. This was installed in a 5 x 8 full bathroom, where a 32 bar wouldnt work as well as one 36 in length (closer to the tub/bath combo, so it can work as a grab bar, if needed). Also, its one of the best looking grab bars out there. Time will tell, but my hope is that this will put an end to weekend replace the towel rack days.

> 3 dayInstalled one in our main bath to replace a towel bar. Looks good. Was pretty easy to install. One end mounted to a stud the other did not. Luckily it includes a no-stud mounting bracket. Just be sure you have everything marked and level before you begin.

> 3 day......mounting this bar vertically as an ADA-compliant grab bar is very difficult if you are screwing it into the narrow dimension of a 2x4 or any other 2-by. To be ADA-compliant, two screws must anchor each end of the grab bar. The actual thickness of a 2-by is 1.5. The way the pre-drilled holes in the mounting plates are placed, it is very difficult to place two screws such that they are both anchored well in the 2-by. This is because, if the bar is vertically positioned, the closest horizontal distance between any pre-drilled hole and the center line hole is about 1. This means that if you place the two holes perfectly centered over a 2-by, each screw will be only 1/4 from an edge of the 2-by. If the 2-by you are trying to hit is not vertical and/or not straight, this task is made even harder. Further, if the 2-by you are trying to screw into is hidden behind existing tile, whew! Good luck! Last and unfortunately, the round shape of the grab bar is too big for small hands, and it is dangerously slippery for even my large hands. I returned the product in exchange for Delta 41936-RB, which is much easier to hold onto.
