> 24 hourIts times like these where battery-powered vacuums really start to exhibit their flaws. This vacuum is no exception, but let me start with the positives. This vacuum does a really good job being able to pull even the most stubborn particles and crumbs off your floor. However, the biggest caveat to this suction power is the quick depletion of battery life. On the maximum setting, this vacuum lasts less than 20 minutes on a full charge.

> 24 hourI have been using a Dyson V7 vacuum for years and have been quite happy with it. I have even replaced the battery a few times. But it was finally time for an upgrade, so I ordered this new V8 model. I could tell as soon as I took it out of the box that it has much more power than my V7. The battery lasts a lot longer as well. This vacuum is equally at home on carpet or hardwood floors. You can also use it as a handheld vacuum to clean your car or get into tight spaces. With my V7 I would get frustrated that the battery would sometimes die before I was finished cleaning, so I would have to wait for it to recharge so I could continue. But I have never had that problem with this V10 since the battery lasts so long. If you can afford to spend a little more, I still recommend the V10, since it has a little more power and even longer battery life. But if you can get the V8 on sale, its one of the best values in a quality cordless vacuum that youll find. I highly recommend this model based on my experience with it so far.

> 24 hourPurchased a lesser model from Amazon with excellent reviews and it did a poor job so thank god I was able to return it. Within a weeks time I got notified this was on sale and I jumped at the chance to purchase it, as it is not a cheap vacuum. It is worth every penny I spent on it so dont waste your money on cheaper items that may break or need to be replaced quickly, put your money into a Dyson. I have 2 dogs and a cat and I use this vacuum on a daily basis in my kitchen, family room and the most used rooms in the house. It picks up everything. It is a little top heavy, and would have preferred an on off and not a pressure switch, but will live with these minor issues considering the job it does. Dont waste your money on throw away products with no suction power, this one is absolutely worth it!

> 24 hourI just got my Dyson V8 in the mail the other day. My son ended up putting it together and he actually vacuumed and cleaned his whole room last night. Thats worth the price right there. (Ha Ha) And he is a teenager. Thats a Win/Win. He loved that the vacuum didnt have a chord and it was easy to carry around. We didnt have to lug our big bulky vaccum out of the closet. I am in love with this vacuum. I am actually excited to clean my house now. Thank you Dyson for such a light weight and compact vacuum that does a better job than other vacuums I have had in the past.

> 24 hourI’ve been using an older model of this vacuum for years and love the impressive suction power and working without being tethered to a power cord. My only issue is the brief runtime on the maximum power setting and comparing my old model with this new one that remains unchanged. Note--runtime is affected by a variety of issues beyond speed for example flooring type, level of debris, attachment used, etc. so it is difficult to provide an accurate time that would apply to all. There are improvements to this model which include some of the tools along with the system for emptying the dust bin. Overall the unit is excellent and just like the older version the only improvement would be runtime. Using the Motorbar cleaning (floor) attachment the operating time is approximately 10 minutes at max power and approximately 20 minutes at the regular setting and this applies to both my old unit and this new model. With other battery powered tools often additional batteries can be charged to easily swap out when one is depleted but that is not easy to accomplish with the current design of this vacuum because the battery is screwed to the motor unit and the entire piece is placed in the charger. In summary my issue is I like the vacuum so much I wish I could use it longer. The regular setting has strong suction so best use it whenever possible. The vacuum works well on hard flooring, carpeting, stairs, etc. and for quick jobs the vacuum cleaner is quick and efficient.

> 24 hourI bought this vaccuum eleven months ago. It worked for the first 10 months and then stopped charging. I keep this vacuum attached to its docking station on the wall in a nice neat broom closet I use it only to pick up kitchen crumbs two to three times a week. I called Dyson and they decided I needed a new battery pack. I waited for it for two weeks. I installed it and tried charging for a few days and it still wouldnt charge. I called again (by now Im almost a month without this vacuum) and now they are saynig I need a new docking assembly. So, now i will be waiting another two weeks to receive and install it. I hope this will tesolve the issue. Update: I received the promised docking assembly that turned out just to be a piece of plastic for mounting on the wall that has nothing to do with charging. Called again and was told that they will send me a new unit after I return my original vacuum. Just checked UPS tracking and found out that Dyson received my old vacuum three business days ago. So far no communication from them. Im almost two months without the vacuum that cost me about $400.
