I have sticked to Easy Cd from my early beginning recording CDs, more than 3 years ago, and believe me: I have tried many programs. My first version was 4.0 and it performed excellent. Never had a problem and everything worked perfectly well. It was Easy to use (the name said it all in this case) Then I tried version 5.0 and it brought many more features but also other complications. Everytime I wanted to record a CD a, heavy to load and memory consumption, menu opened and my computer slowered and sluggished its performance. I know you should not be doing anything else while recording a CD so all other applications were not running, except for my antivirus, so I could not figure out why my PC remained so slow after the CD had been recorded! I switched to Nero, which has more features and it is as powerful (or perhaps more) than Easy Cd. Nero is also easy to use (its wizard is really simple to follow) so it became my favorite. When I saw that a new version of Easy CD had appeared I came back hoping to find a good product. But instead I found a very similar program to its previous version for CD users (if you own a DVD recorder, not my case, you will enjoy it more, I think). But worst, it made my PC even slower!!! I have a P IV 1.5 Ghz with 256 Mb Ram so I do not have a totally out of date one... My advise: Cd users stick to your actual program and avoid it until Roxio fixes it.

I put in an order for this (I had version 5 on a prior PC) so that Id have some decent DVD software on my new PC. I treated the negative reviews here with skepticism. But they appear to be bang on target. So far, it has completely prevented XP from restarting (giving me a message that Windows can no longer figure out whether I have a valid license or not -- trust me, I do; and then on another reinstall hungup half-way through copying files. For something as basic as disk copying you shouldnt have to deal with the kind of problems that bleeding-edge games or other exotic software present. Even with the current rebate Im out ... because I figured it couldnt be all bad. Forget it. Ill go back to the earlier version.

Seamless, fantastic, and stable. A solid addition to the computer. A bit more professional then the last version, Version 6 is flawless with Windows XP (SP1 needs to be installed) The drag feature is not only new but excellent. I would recommend this to any burner out there. make sure you read the requirements, and go to town!

Being a user of Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum I was excited to hear of the forthcoming release of Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. I noticed that there were a lot of negative reviews going around from people who couldnt get the software to work. Based on the quality of the old version, and the new features in version 6 I decided to buy this product anyway. I am glad that I did. It works flawlesly on my Windows XP SP1 Home Edition System and Teac 40x CD writer. I have 4 friends who have since bought this software and they have had no problems either (2 using Windows XP, 1 using Windows ME, and another using Windows 98SE). The people who are having problems probably have forgotton to remove old CD writing software (IF YOU HAVE HAD NERO ON YOUR PC MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETELY REMOVE BOTH NERO AND IN CD WHICH COMES WITH IT). Check also that your system has all the latest Windows Updates installed (Windows XP users make sure you have Service Pack One). Make sure you have the latest updates installed as well...

I have many other software products that let me work with music creation and collection, so the main reason I bought Easy CD & DVD Creator was for its DVD tools. I have many VHS tapes which are family movie compilations, some dating back to Super 8 days. I was very eager to put these all on DVD for my family. The series of problems I had with this process was simply amazing. The software didnt have fast forward or rewind buttons. Importing often failed even though the movie or sound files were perfectly usable by every other software package on my system. The software crashed numerous times. I tried to move the project onto another system to see if it would be any better, and the move process required me to start again from scratch. I finally got my DVD put together the way I wanted it and started to write. It crashed. I tried to simply write an image to disk. It crashed. The Roxio message boards are full of complaints from people with the same problem. I sent an email to their tech support. No answer. If you call in you pay for a toll call - plus pay $35 on top of that in order for them to help you figure out why their software is crashing. This software should never have been released in the buggy state it is in. It is incredible how much money I have spent for software that has wasted days of my time and simply does not work.

Been using Roxio for years, but found Corel Movie Factory 7 easier.

I have been using version 4.02 and have had minimal problems. I bought a new drive and #6 was inside so I tried it. Didnt like it - went to put 4.0 back in and now it wont read the drives. says there are no correctly configured drives. When I turn #4 off the drives work fine. Roxio needs to be smarter than this. Do not buy Roxio junk. The support is sub-par and they leave you with self help skills. Which means - you figure it out we cant. thanks

Nobody else in that market has a comprehensive set of tools like Creator 6. Nero doesnt come close. The new Disc Copier will copy games that nobody else can touch, and burning audio CDs is much faster than older versions. I like how the new project selector ties all the programs together and how it can be minimized on screen so you always have access to your burning apps. Great job Roxio.

This release is excellent in terms of features but the programme swallows system resources. I run a P4 2.4Ghz with 768Mb of RDRAM and 7,200 rpm disks but this release still noticeably decreased the performance of my PC due to the high number of tasks it laods. My system shutdown time increased from 10 seconds to 4 minutes (reported to Roxio). Stick with Version 5 until Roxio works out some of the issues.

I have been very happy with Roxio products until this upgrade. This product should never have been released. During the upgrade, it destroyed my Windows 2000. All I had when Roxio got through with my machine is the blue screen of death. I had to reinstall Windows, ALL my programs ALL my drivers, and I had reset ALL my preferences and defaults, I never could recover my DSL connection. And my MP3 files all disappeared. I lost a weeks worth of work, probably several clients, and several thousand dollars. After speaking with Roxio technical help (on my dime, of course)for several hours, the person at Roxio admitted that THIS WAS CAUSED BY A KNOWN BUG. They had no work-around; they had not recalled the product; they had no warning for suckers like me. All they had was Im sorry. Thats not good enough. The icing on the cake is that the program doesnt even work well. I have yet to be able to make an audio cd that doesnt skip and distort. I hate to think about the data cds Ive made.
