Ive always wanted to learn to play the violin so about a month ago I broke down and bought my instrument. The next step was to find lessons and I looked all over. Bottom line: Every instructor was in high demand and lessons were expensive, about $30 for a 1/2 hour.

I purchased this program for my 7 year old daughter after she got a violin for Christmas. Im impressed with the program because she doesnt really need adult direction and can teach herself. Will this program teach you to become an accomplished professional violinist? No, but the lessons are simple to follow, have engaging games for reinforcement, and really do help teach the basics. I wanted to do this before investing in expensive private lessons. I believe it was a good call. I would recommend this not only for children, but anyone wanting to learn how to play violin. I also purchased the my violin and was equally impressed with that one.

Even though the product is rated for 6+, my daughter at 5 loves the lessons. The narater is easy to follow and uses fun games to help them understand. SHe is learning very quickly and I know she will continue to learn the violin.

Cool little program, but my daughter was half way through the lessons in about 20 mins. Tuner in program is inaccurate, some of the lessons are annoying and repetitive. I would save the $$ and just go on and spend it on lessons.

I bought the guitar version for my 6 year old son, and being the good mother that I am I got the violin version for myself to learn the violin that I received as a graduation gift for college. Cant have the boy doing lessons if Mom is ducking, right?

This program is absolutely worth every penny! I am 32 years old and had never before played or touched a violin. I decided that I would give it a try and bought My Violin. The lessons are very easy to follow, and I have already learned so much in just three short weeks! I highly recommend this for beginners!

Hello, I am 25 and just learning the violin. I have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8. This product installed perfectly fine. I have it on my laptop so I can stream it onto my TV. The hardest thing I have to deal with is clicking for something to play and then hurrying to get my hands right on my violin. However, that doesnt change my rating of it. Its still a great product and is ideal for a team (one person clicking, one person playing). I havent finished all the lessons yet, but Im over halfway. I wanted something that I could do on my own to see if I could even do it. I didnt want to invest in an instructor and waste time figuring out my skill level. Ill hopefully acquire an instructor once I have all the basics down.

i gave this and a violin to my daughter for her sixth birthday, we have just started it and I am blown away! It makes me want to go and by myself a violin to learn with her. It teaches care for you instrument as well as general maintenance. It does not start you out playing twinkle, twinkle or Mary had a little lamb, it genuinely shows you how to play your violin, how to hold your bow, and techniques to improve your ability. Teaching for enjoyment of music is the way we want to go and I think this is a wonderful way to start.

Very easy and easy to understand!

This product, DVD, for violin instruction is simply bad !! This product is very very basic. You can go online to YouTube, type in violin instruction and watch several videos for FREE and obtain a better lesson. Search violin parts for the beginnner, violin techniques for the beginner, first violin songs for the beginner etc... You can do this for free and get a better lesson. I purchased this for my daughter. I watched it once and it was horrible !! They have a nice yet old lady to play the violin. She DOES NOT capture the childs attention !!! My child would not watch the video it was so boring. This video is the equivalent of your childs first lesson for $15 or $20 bucks. Not only this, if you have simply 2 or 3 months of prior piano lessons 20 years in the past and you watch about 1 hours of videos for fee on line. You could teach your child or yourself everything in this CD. Simply this DVD is crap, take it from experience it is not worth the money. If and only if, you live 200 miles from your nearest violin instructor and you have NO experience with anything remotely similar to music instruction then you might want to buy this. I took piano for one semester in college 30 years ago and I am more than easily able to give my child more instruction than this video can !!!! Plese read the prior sentence several times. I am very serious about this.
