Very good case, fits well and high quality

I got this case to replace my first choice, which broke after a few months. I should have picked this one the first time around! I was a little wary of it because of the unusual way that the phone goes into the holster. But it turns out I really like it. It is super easy to take out and put in with one hand, and holds the phone extremely securely. I also love how thin the case is. I dont know whether it will be quite as protective against really rough treatment as some cases with thicker padding would be, but it seems to do enough for normal use. As other reviewers mention, if you use wired headphones, youll have to unplug them to put them in/remove them from the holster. I use bluetooth headphones, which is a much better experience anyway, so this isnt an issue for me. Update 3/5/2021: Im reducing my rating from 5 stars to 4 because for the second time, the latch has broken. The first one lasted about 9 months. Then second lasted about 7 months. I may order a third, because other than that, I really do like it.

It fits the phone as it should and isnt as bulky as the otter box before.

I bought this for someone who had upgraded his phone. He says its great, except his previous belt holster, made by a different brand, was balanced just right so that when he set the phone on a table he could spin it on the clip. Sadly, this one doesnt spin. Hes disappointed enough that I may have to buy him a different holster if I can find one. An interesting feature/bug (depending on your point of view) is that the clip is notched at the top for the headphone plug to fit there, but this means that when the headphones are in, the phone wont come out of the holster. This could be a feature if youre worried about accidentally losing your phone if the clip opens unexpectedly (which doesnt seem to be a problem), or a bug if youre trying to get to the phone controls while listening to a call or music. Youre forced to pop out the headphone jack, annoying everyone around you momentarily until you get the phone out of the holster & jack the headphones back in.

I like for my phone to be accessible, without having to dig in my pocket. I had a holster for my iPhone SE, so I was concerned that the move to the bigger Pixel 3a was going to make that phone too big to wear on my hip. The holster from Encased is on the upper edge in size that I would be comfortable with, but it works well. The clip seems sturdy enough (1 month of wearing so far). The clip hangs on my belt and I have the phone turned sideways. The latch holds the phone very well. The hinge clip is a bit in the way of my thin earbud cord, but I can make it work. Overall, Im pretty pleased with the holster.
