> 3 dayI purchased this cooler to keep things cold for a few hours while traveling, but I was pleasantly surprised by how long it it retained ice. I tried it for the first time on a day when the high was just over 90 degrees. I loaded it with a chilled twelve pack. Unfortunately, the ice I bought that day had just been bagged and placed in a freezer, so it was wet and melting quickly on the short ride home. There was already a significant amount of water in the ice bag when I poured the ice in the cooler, so I figured it wouldnt last more than 6 or 8 hours even though it was in the shade. However, after opening and closing the cooler throughout the afternoon as well as a few times the next morning to see if it was still cold, it still had ice in it after 17 hours. With colder ice, I have no doubt the ice would have lasted close to 24 hours. If youre thinking this will hold ice as long as a Yeti 20-quart, it wont. This is a 5.5-pound cooler vs the Yeti that weighs in at about 15 pounds. Yeti designs their cooler to do one thing; hold ice for as long as possible. The Engel 19-quart is designed to be compact, lightweight and retain ice for a reasonable amount of time -- all of which were considerations for me. So, if you need your ice to last for days, buy a heavy-duty, roto-molded model. If you need a small, lightweight, high-quality cooler for day-use, this is the cooler for you.

> 3 dayThis is by far the best cooler Ive ever owned. It is EXACTLY the right size to be carried around without being burdensome. Its big enough to fit enough beers for a beach day with friends, or the goods for a picnic date. Any time I bring it somewhere, people assume it is a Yeti and tell me they like the way it looks - robust/utilitarian. It keeps items cold as long or longer than other coolers in my experience. The weakest point is definitely the hinges, there are visible stress marks on the plastic where the hinges are screwed, but I expect that it will not fail in the near future (Ive had it for 1.5 years and use it 1-5 times/month). Yes, the absence of a medium is the best insulator and this is not vacuum sealed, but it is still very effective. Great value, good buy, would recommend.

> 3 dayMy wife loves this which is all that really matters. The hinges are plastic and look flimsy. Care must be taken to not open too far as the hinges stop it from going all the way to *180 degrees. So far it is fine but this appears to be the weakness. My wife was out all day on *100 weather and the ice packs were still frozen

> 3 dayHow about letting me use it for a while before asking for a review! I just got the damn thing 2 days ago and you already want a review! I have no idea how I like it or how it’s going to rate yet! 3 stars because I can’t say good or bad yet!

> 3 dayI was hoping to use this for camping. But I think it’s more for day trips. I wanted to see how long ice would last inside of it so I filled it up with ice and the ice stayed somewhat I see for about 2 1/2 days without really opening it up. I think it will be fine for our one or two day camping trips but for anything else Or long-term you might want something bigger or more insulated

> 3 dayI use this for work, going on trips, on the boat, etc. It has seen a number of construction sites and has been thrown around a lot. My food and drinks never get cold and it always wipes clean...even when covered in carbon black. Love it!!

> 3 dayEVERYDAY AFFAIR- That Box was by my side every day I left the house for work for the past 3 years. The foam seal for the Lid is still water and Air tight 100% . Never used it as a seat it a step-stool . Cracks formed around the handle on the Lid after year 2 . Last week while walking across a busy intersection in LA the plastic clip/length adjuster broke and the Box took a Hard Tumble. If I get 3 years out of my new green one I will give another positive review. Thank You Engel for not being a YETI

> 3 dayGreat cooler for a day out. I have found that it holds ice and keeps contents cold all day. Nice size for a day trip. I like that it has a handle on top and a shoulder strap. I haven’t had it very long, but it seems to be durable and sturdy. Very easy to clean.
