I received this projector a week and a half ago, everything is set up fine on the ceiling mount. It worked great for about 6 days, then a faint bar appeared on the left side of the screen which almost looked like burn-in but it seems to be an image processing issue or defect. The bar has a thin white line that intermittently shows up on top. The warranty looks legitimate, and I will revise my review if the customer service/technical support resolves the issue promptly. Like I said the projector was great until the defect appeared. Revised, after some trouble shooting, figured out the problem with technical support. Everything appears to be working back to normal, image is great, responsiveness when playing games is great, warranty and cost of replacement bulbs is unbeatable. Highly recommended as the best all around in this price range, tried playing FIFA with a friend on a BENQ and it was almost unplayable with the delay, the Epson is pretty much just as good as an LCD TV in terms of responsiveness.

This is my first projector so I dont really have anything to compare it to, but Im very happy with it. I have it about 17 feet from the screen, which is about 6 X 11, and it produces a really good high def picture. I had my doubts about the vid quality at that size, but its really as good as what you give it. A blu ray or a good 1080p signal reproduces flawlessly. The fan is a bit noisy in the high mode, but I dont notice it when a show is playing. Some people have said they watch in economy mode, which is quieter, but thats not bright enough for me which brings me to the only complaint I might have. Sometimes I think the picture could be a little brighter. It could just be my screen, its a painted white wall, but I did do some research and painted it with something that is supposed to produce very good results. Its not a big deal and its only in certain scenes. The internal speaker is pretty cheesy sounding, but I Bluetooth the audio to my sound bar and its awesome. I think for the price, this projector is really good.

Ive been trying out various projectors over the past week for my bedroom. Im not looking for anything too crazy or too expensive, just a decent projector with decent image would suffice to watch movies from my bed. I started with very cheap models and gradually moved to more expensive ones. This is the 5th projector I tried and hence I had some comparison points. What I love about the projector: 1. Image is bright and crisp. I compared the brightness of Epson Home Cinema 2040 to another projector with the brightness of 3200 lumens

I have had the Edson 2040 for less than a week, but I can say without doubt, this is the perfect traditional TV replacement! I had a 65 Panasonic television for nearly a decade (720p). It was a great television, but it was time for an upgrade and I was on a budget. Im not a huge fan of 4K resolution, its just TOO sharp for my old eyes to enjoy to the fullest, but I planned on going that direction until I found that for my money I was going to have to go with a 55 screen... Then I discovered projectors. I studied up... for a bright room get 3000+ lums, for good dark images go DLP, so on so forth... I shopped long and hard... finally I came to the Epson 2040. 1080p. Great short focus. 3D. Interpolation. It has it all. I was only worried that my bright living room would be the doom of any image. NOT SO. The Epson 2040 is AWESOME. Period. There are 5 windows in my living room area that get the evening sun. Full sun behind sheer curtains (block about half of light), and floor lamps lit, even low light cinema mode provides great light on a 120 Eleite Screens screen. My projector is ceiling mounted and about 12 from the screen, above the heads of the center seats. Screen is a manual pull down mounted on the ceiling about 8 from the wall. With the screen up, it frees the entire living room space. Screen down, and my entire wall is my television! I run the projector on cenima mode (the dimmer energy saving mode) most often. The picture is great, even in fairly bright light. There is a little bit of warm up time when the unit is turned on, but its not bad at all. HDMI control means when I hit the power button on my cable remote, the projector powers up and automatically turns on my surround sound receiver and everything is ready to go. Some reviews have complained of noise... the projector does make some noise, but NOT THAT MUCH. Its literally mounted a few feet over our heads, and we dont even notice it while watching movies or television. Its really not much difference from my old TV or my PlayStation. The bottom line is, the Epson 2040 is a fantastic projector! Easy to use, fabulous picture. Get rid of the old tv and choose your own screen size!

I have spent much more on projectors, but this is my favorite so far. The picture quality in a light controlled room is excellent, and the picture quality in a room with moderate ambient light is fine. I love that replacement bulbs are easily acquired for under $100. My past projectors required builds over $300. At the price of bulbs for this projectors, its easy to update when the picture dims, rather than dealing with a faded picture and waiting for the bulb to pop. I was looking for a budget projector. I wanted a good movie watching experience. I have all that and more and I am well pleased. There are projectors in this price range with better contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is important. I may well like those projectors better if I tried one. I chose this one because of the cost replacement bulbs. I was not concerned with having the best and newest. That can get expensive. I wanted a great movie watching experience for an affordable price.

I have been using projectors for my home cinema for 16 years on a white wall. People have always been impressed by the size of the picture, but didnt comment much about the quality. This projector has a picture quality that is so bright and detailed that nobody believes its coming from a projector. This is an amazing projector for this price. I have a 110in picture at 13ft away hung from a ceiling mount. If your on a budget like I am, you cant go wrong with this projector. The bulb that comes with this projector is impossible to find. Replacements range in price from $25 to just over $100 and could not fine the exact same one it came with, makes it impossible to duplicate after the bulb goes out. So enjoy it out of the box because youll never repeat it as Epson does not sell a original replacement.

This projector is absolutely fabulous. The colors are great, the sharpness is fantastic and the blacks are great. I dont understand the complaint about the blacks. Im a graphics professional for over 25 years so Im in a good position to judge picture quality. Compared to my HC2030 the blacks are rich and appear very black. To judge blacks, firstly I look at visual experience, and then technically I compare the edge of the image to the screen (the part of the screen that receives no light except for the ambient light). The blacks will appear no blacker the appearance of the white screen. I can only guess that the projector needs to be adjusted to get visually appearing blacks. I use the eco mode and find the fan noise to be very quiet. Love this projector and I would ignore negative complaints about the blacks.

I have put ~ 50 hours on this projector in the last 3 weeks. I use it with my Elite Screens grey 135 inch homemade screen. I really like it but there are a few things that could be better. My Pros: Bright - I have total light control in my theater so most of the time I run it in economy mode. Quite - Not too loud in eco mode, see cons for normal mode. 3d - Works great. Price - I picked this up when it was on sale for about $600 shipped from Amazon. Bulb costs- Ive found them for as low $65. I never feel guilty watching it. Cons: Loud - I use normal mode when watching sports and it is very loud. Creative frame interpolation - I wanted to like this feature. Not enough horsepower as it lags/stutters a lot. No lens shift means that my projector hangs down 6 inches from the ceiling. Automatic Iris - I shut it off. It was too noticeable while on. One note about the contrast. I recommend a grey screen for this projector as it needs all the help it can get for contrasts. Once I settled for eco mode and set the processing from fine to fast, I do enjoy using it. I will never go back to a flat panel TV.

Stopped working after an 1hr. I was impressed with the picture quality until it stopped displaying video, audio carried on for a few seconds then the status light(blue) and Lamp light(amber) started flashing. Epson state the unit is effectively DOA. Their RMA process will charge your card the equivalent of another projector, hopefully Amazon returns process will be smoother. Update The Amazon returns process is always a breeze! I have had the replacement projector for several weeks and could not be happier. Excellent colors and picture quality not too far off from OLED. Great results even in a room with some light coming in via blinds. I havent mounted it and dont have a screen, walls a gray and I can move it room to room until I ever decide where to mount it permanently. A definite recommendation but I would do a burn in for several hours to make sure you dont get a lemon

I purchased this almost 1.5 year ago. just few things that people may not like: I couldnt make it play movies from memory stick (USB), only pics. probably I was doing something wrong. I am just using HDMI inputs for my SatTV and for media player, and it works fine. I think it has a little noisy cooler, I did not use any other projector in this area (it is very quiet here) so I dont have anything to compare with. it is installed outdoor and therefore built-in speakers are not sufficient. I would recommend using separate speakers if you want to fully enjoy the movie. But when it comes to core functions of this projector - it does its job! Outstanding picture quality, amazing colors, the details of the picture are so clean and sharp even with 5 meter distance. 5 stars!

The Home Cinema 2040 projector brings the big screen home, delivering Full HD 1080p entertainment. This portable performer delivers up to 35,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, advanced image processing, plus 2200 lumens of color brightness and 2200 lumens of white brightness (2). Enjoy movies, games and more with two HDMI ports and MHL (3) connectivity. Connect your Blu-ray Disc player, gaming console or streaming device, and project up to 300" virtually anywhere. A built-in speaker and convenient setup tools mean you can enjoy HD content out of the box.
