> 3 dayHonestly I was on the fence about buying these things because Ive never upgraded a console before but was quick and easy and finally have enough storage to download some more games without moving stuff around or deleting stuff. So far so good!

> 3 dayI bought this kit due to reasonable price and the fact it provided everything I needed to upgrade, including instructions on the process. A few quick notes: 1. Before swapping drives, back up your PS4 to the USB drive and transfer to your computer (to make room for the install file). Once you install the drive and set up the PS4, you can go back to backup and restore using the USB drive and restore your saves and profiles for the PS4 (including guest accounts). 2. Download the full version of the system update, not the smaller file, as your PS4 will not recognize it and you will think youve just bricked your PS4. 3. This drive, though not an SSD or SSHD, is still faster than the factory HDD. I am speaking for the first gen PS4, I cannot say if it is faster than the PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. 4. I have thirteen games currently installed on my PS4 after updating my HDD and still have 1TB and a little extra left. This absolutely helps when you hate deleting stuff just to make room for new games, especially when you have a lot of DLC or its a game that has had massive updates. 5. There are faster drives out there (SSD/SSHD) that are more expensive as well. This would be the budget option as far as storage is concerned. If you dont need the whole kit as I did, then you can spend less by simply buying the drive itself. I do appreciate that it comes with a casing and cable so that I can repurpose my old drive as a portable storage drive.

> 3 dayEasy to install. Heatsink cover is very heavy and A+ quality. Heatsink pads are included. 3 types/thickness. This drive is extremely fast. Was able to play COD directly from the drive without and lag. Price was great compared to other brands. If youre installing in a Playstation 5, make sure you order the SSD with heatsink.

> 3 daySuper quick transfer speeds. Loads much quicker than from PS5 internal drive. 2nd Fantom Drives product, will not be my last.

> 3 dayI ran out of space on my PS5 and this drive was just what I needed. It was easy to install thanks to the directions provided. The metal cover this comes with does look intimidating with its pointed spikes in the side. But it is harmless and that jagged side helps take it off if I ever need to. The drive is fast and cold. Happy to be able to install new games at hopefully a faster speed.

Greater than one weekJust got this 1tb gen 4 nvme for my ps5 memory expansion. It came in a very sturdy tin box (beats a paper box) and with great padding for the m.2 ssd. The installation was very easy on the playstation 5. Really good for the price and it is well worth it. After installing the PS5 ssd (literally took 30 seconds), it asked me to format when I turned it on. After, it showed me how fast the drive was on the playstation. I got 6206MB/s speed. Very satisfied because I know the PS5 specs are lower than gaming pcs and when I had tested my previous nvme from WD (i had the SN850), I only got 5700MB/s on the PS5. I called fantom drives to see if they had a heatsink and they said they will be launching one in a couple weeks. tldr: better speed than the WD SN850 on PS5 with lower price. highly recommend.

> 3 dayPretty pleased. Stuff like this always makes me nervous (Im a bit of a Luddite), but instructions were easy to follow and every step was clear. It took about 25 minutes hands on time. One oddness; you cant import your saved game data onto your new drive unless the game is installed there, so you need to re download and/or disc install every program you want to import the saved game data from. Logistically, this was easy; all content Id purchased was saved in my user library, so once I set up the new drive and signed in to my Sony account it only took a couple of clicks. As you can imagine though, the downloads themselves were time consuming. Mine took about eight hours downloading in sleep mode so I let it run overnight. One minor nit with the kit itself: two of the screws securing my original PS4 drive were over-tightened, and the head of the screw driver included in the kit stripped when I tried removing them. Its a pretty cheap one time-use thing I guess. Luckily, I had a higher quality phillips head of the right size among my tools and it worked easily. Ill echo other reviewers - its important you get the correct PS4 PUP update file from the SONY website to put on the flash drive. As of 11/26/16, you need to scroll down through a lot of options before the right one shows up; its a good ways down the page. Im keeping the old drive in current state case theres a problem (the kit includes an aluminum casing to convert it to an external portable drive), but looks like everything is up and running.

12-04-2025This was a bit on the expensive side, but early adopters always pay a premium. Works as well as other fast ram
