This is some of the best joist tape Ive come across for a great price. Thought not as heavy weight as Grace Vycor, etc, it has the same tenacious adhesive and is easy to work with. DONT let it contact itself or you will be cutting out those sections. The membrane is thick enough to seal around fasteners and protect deck joists to extend their life. I will most definitely be buying this for my next deck project.

This is nice tape. The adhesive is pretty heavy duty and should hold well. It will definitely leave residue behind just by the nature of heavy duty adhesive. For everything I have used it for so far it works perfect.

This joist and beams tape reminds me the door and window flashing tape used to prevent water and air penetration and help to defend against mold, mildew, and premature decay. It is very dense and rubbery just like the traditional window tape is, and should provide an added layer of protection to the rough openings. This tape is very sticky in cold weather but doesnt flow in hot weather exposure (the hottest we had so far was 86 degrees). It is about $5 - $10 less than the traditional window and door butyl rubber adhesive tape 50 feet roll, but it is also only 3 inches wide comparing to 5 or 6 inches width of the window tape. If you need an exterior tape to protect rough openings from water penetration and causing mold, mildew, rot, and/or other complications with the structural integrity of the wall or frame, this 3 inches wide butyl tape is a great solution for the bathroom/kitchen or exterior applications.

I used this butyl tape on my roofing for my chicken coop and it seems to be doing the job. It held much better than duct tape. The plastic can be annoying to get off.

I decided to use this tape under the eaves of my house for some proactive repair. The mitered corners of my soffit could have a better seal, so I am taping them for added security. Its an easy fix with this tape and it does seem that it will last, especially since it should get minimum sunlight and rain in the protected area where I am using it.

I did test with small piece and I will say it is easy to use - peel off protective film and it is easy to adhere to piece of wood, it bends and folds easily so I can see how it would be great to seal around any screws in a joist for example. It is HEAVY duty tape - and product states it is anti-aging and I believe it will be. I have a big deck project coming up in the summer - rebuilding deck that is falling apart - I will use this tape over the joists because we are putting on new deckboards and hopefully reusing old joists - this tape will seal over where previous screws were located (which is a potential breach point for water to seap in) as well as over the new screws.

Just as advertised, its a good water proofing tape. It even stick to moderately dirty and old lumber.
