This is very easy to apply with a damp sponge and it finishes the dying process. I had been unhappy with the dyed color of my shoes UNTIL I applied the Resolene finish. With the Resolene, the color was perfect. In addition, the shoes have a nice soft sheen and a bit of protection from the elements.

I was touching up my travel bag which had taken a beating on the road. I used a q-tip dipped in the black Fiebings Leather Dye so as to not get dye on the cream stitching, and then used the Fiebings applicator on the large open areas of the bag (went faster than the q-tip:)). Worked beautifully. After drying for a couple of days (just to make sure) I buffed the leather, and then I was ready for the Resolene. Per info on the internet, I diluted a small amount of the Resolene 50% with water. Then took a soft rag and applied the Resolene (it is a cream texture) to the entire bag using circular motions. I let it dry for several hours and then put a second coat on it and let it dry. I then buffed the bag with a soft cloth. Applied some leather conditioner to finish it off, and buffed to a lovely soft natural finish. Resolene did exactly what it needed to (stop the dye from rubbing off), but without creating any type of unnatural glossy finish. THe leather is soft to the touch and supple - exactly what I wanted. I found the Resolene easy to apply, with no unpleasant fumes. I did not get any streaking, as some people have mentioned in other reviews posted here. It worked like a charm for me. I did two coats of the Resolene on the bag that is pictured here, and the bottle is still practically full.

    Gives great shine

I recently bought a mid century chair that had gorgeous plush tufted leather, but the arms had some minute wear. I bought Fieblings dye and waited for this resolene which took much longer to arrive than the dye. In the meantime I dyed a beloved pair of leather boots that had aged and faded and all was good with the dye performance. Now I read the reviews and even though adding shine wasnt my original intention, I looked forward to it since everyone boasted about the sheen it leaves. While it added sheen to the worn areas of my chair that had no finish left from wear , it definitely brought the sheen of the other areas way down. Same with my boots and a pair of sandals I coated. Very disappointed with the very low sheen as it left an almost opaque finish. The resolene that dried on my fingers revealed that the consistency is that of elmers glue. I guess since the resolene is opaque white, I couldnt really hope for a glossy shine. Shouldnt have gotten my hopes up by reading the reviews. That said, its went on fairly easily but I have no idea how it will hold up. Even after the third coat I was still getting dye transfer on my cloth. That was after letting each coat dry! Plus the dye had sat for 3-4 days to dry and I was careful when I applied the dye to rub until the cloth was clean, removing the excess. Would I sit in my finished chair in white pants? I think not. Good enough but didnt really meet my very high expectations.

Worked well. I changed the color of a leather purse then applied this to seal it.

Used on a bleeding leather bag. Did a couple coats and it made it shine and sealed perfectly.

Along with Fiebings deglazer and black leather dye, I was able to get a very professional result in changing a new pair of brown designer boots to black. My experience using this seems to be different from others though. I did not get the shiny finish that others have mentioned. I did follow the suggestion to use a damp cloth to apply this, which gave the leather a supple sheen but nothing at all shiny. Using all three Fiebings products, I am thrilled with how my boots turned out and will definitely use this again on other leather projects.

its ok for a sealant finish but I find mink oil and bees wax give a softer finish.
