I was having some strange issues with power fluctuations. Sometimes lights would dim or flicker, the microwave would sometimes seem to change power level, my uninterruptable power supplies would randomly switch to battery, etc. I wasnt sure what was going on, so I decided to get these to monitor the voltage on several outlets. I put two on the same outlet and they read exactly the same, which was good. After trying these monitors in various outlets, I noticed that when a significant load was put on a circuit (microwave, toaster oven), some outlets went down to 115V and some up to 140V. It turned out to be a bad neutral connection that the electric power company had to fix.
