Fluke 233 Remote Display Multimeter

13-04-2025This meter is the worst fluke I have ever owned or used. When I need it the batteries are dead. The removable display is great when it works. I would have not bought it if I had known this design flaw. It also has a corrosion problem at the batteries. The only way to keep this meter working is remove the 5 batteries after every use. Fluke should offer some type of fix for this meter.

Greater than one weekThis is the best DMM that I have used to date. I use it multiple times a day. The removable display is great when working on cars or when needing both your hand elsewhere.

> 3 dayI run an automotive diagnostics shop, so my meters get used fairly often. Went for a couple of months without using this particular one (because it doesnt have a lot of the functions that my primary meter does -- duty cycle, dwell, etc.), and came back to corroded batteries. When I put new batteries in it, two of the spring terminals broke completely off, removed them, and the plastic that they snap into broke. Ordered new replacement parts (terminals and a back housing) for super cheap directly from Fluke, cleaned the corrosion off the mainboards, and now we have an RF ERR and Overvoltage message. Great idea with that remote display, Fluke, but I feel like I just threw away $300+.

Greater than one weekThe wireless display is a nice feature we bought a couple of them I cant stress enough to remove the batteries when your done because both of ours were ruined by the batteries corroding in less than a month out in a work truck. We have had fluke 12s -88s and it was never an issue even after a year but for whatever reason we have had some bad luck with this model if you dont take the batteries out when your done its kind of a pain but better than a ruined meter

Greater than one weekGreat purchase! Works well and the detachable part is really handy. For the price this is worth it.

> 3 dayI love this product!!!! I am a field service technician and I do VFD commissioning, and this Meter helps me out a lot. Previously i would have to just use a magnet on a regular Fluke, and that was hazardous when working with high voltage, but now with the detachable screen i just place the screen in my viewing range, and then take my measurements without having any slips.

> 3 dayI work at an Auto repair shop, and we use multimeters fairly often.. I can honestly tell you it is a good multimeter, flukes are all good, and it is expected of them, thats why they cost $300.. But this particular model we bought, keeps draining batteries, and causes them to leak, or just says Error on the screen.. So now every time we use it, we put the batteries in, after we finish we take them back out.. ridiculous - Very poor design for a fluke I would say.. And this is why I gave 1 star, because even though the idea of a detachable screen is awesome, what good does it do when it causes all this inconvenience? So now we just use the old style fluke we had and dont even mess with this one.. I would expect this tool to work properly after spending this kind of money...

> 3 dayMy boss gave me along with a bunch other employees this meter when it first came out about a decade ago and we all hated it. It chewed through batteries. It failed to warn you when the batteries were dying. It often lost connection between the head and base, and the whole thing was bulky, heavy, yet very fragile.
