Folkmanis Turtleneck Turtle Hand Puppet

This is totally fun and well made. A great gift for those whose imaginations are ready to shine.

Great puppet for young and old. Move moves easily and front hands. Head comes in and out easily. Ive purchased many other folkmanis puppet and this and the owl are a great find.

My daughter’s 4th grade class sang to a group of pre-k kids in Spanish. She loved having this puppet for the song and donated it to the class after the performance. The puppet is a great quality.

I bought this puppet to use with students, teaching them to Stop, Think, and Tuck like Tucker the Turtle when they are angry, instead of lashing out. The students just love this puppet! He is very cute and appealing, and it is easy to pull in the head and the arms and legs to demonstrate and practice. The product is also sturdy and well made, and a good value for the price.

The actual item looks much darker and smaller than the photo. Also, the shell seems plastic in the photo but is actually a padded, leatherlike fabric. This is actually a good thing because its nice and cuddly. Even the size is better for being small. (Think of a small catchers mitt with a head, legs, arms and tail.) You can either control the head or the forearms but not both at once. When controlling the head you can pull it into the shell, if you hold the back of the shell with the other hand, which is cute. The wizened eyes and expression on mine have a definite Kermit the Frog vibe to me. Different but delightful and will make a great addition to my Sunday School lessons for children.

I bought this because I had a class and was given a print out story for the children focusing on good behavior. The web site recommended this puppet to be used along with the Tucker turtle story. The children love Tucker turtle. They hug and kiss him.

Loved this product. Exactly what I wanted. Bought it for a gift and it was well received. I did think it was a little expensive.

The product is great. I am a little annoyed with Amazon for not following through with the delivery date listed when I purchased the item. It unfortunately arrived too late for me to use.

The Turtleneck Turtle has loads of personality and charm. It fits my adult male hand so Im easily able to manipulate the mouth and both arms. It is soft, sturdy, and very snuggly. Unfortunately, vinyl shell layer peals off the fabric because the glue holding it degrades. Mine started to fail after two years, during which time the turtle had nightly snuggles, frequent adventures, and even some world travel. In another two years of gentle handling, the fragile vinyl tore where it had separated, making the problem worse. After two more years with no use the shell degraded and fell off on its own. I bought mine in mid 2013, so maybe Folkmanis has improved the glue or vinyl over the years. They really should have used cloth instead of vinyl for the shell. If youre crafty, I recommend sewing on a proper cloth shell as soon as you get this. I plan to do this to mine. I encourage you to buy the Turtleneck Turtle for anyone in your life who would enjoy his expressive and good natured personality. Just know that the shell may be fragile and the glue may fail like it did on mine.
