    Greater than one week

Used it to create a 1 3/4 mortise for tropical oak (quercus) door with a >1 density. Requires 5 5 mm passes but the finished mortise is top quality. Only problem is that the cutting edge wears out pretty fast and I have no idea if it is possible at all to sharpen the bit in any efficient way. I think some kind of jig could be used with the Chicago Electric carbide saw sharpener, but my experiment in this direction was not successful. By the way, dont forget to adjust the rotation direction of your spindle to use this bit. It is easy to forget, particularly above 70 :) Best

I have used dozens of Freud bits over the last 25 years and this one was just as good as the rest. Used it to cut out 1 5/8” thick red oak table tops and bases and it got the job done with no problem

The only issue, not Freuds, is that it is so long that my Bosch 1617 bottoms out with a substantial portion of the bit still above the table. So for a Dado, this would be an issue. Unless it was a Dado in 12/4 Lumber.

I got tired of installing a dado stack on my table saw, and decided to use my router together with my DeWalt Track Saw track (and the DeWalt router accessory) to make 1/4, 1/2, 5/8, and 3/4 dados. The table saw is still better at doing things in one cut, but trying to keep a 4 section of MDF dead-straight against the table saws fence is not easy. The router system works much better. As per usual, Freud makes (at least in IMO) the best quality bits on the market that arent beyond my pain tolerance for spending money. I havent had any tear-out, and was able to get a 3/8 dado with two smooth passes. One tip: make sure you keep these clean. The resins and adhesives in plywood and MDF will stick to the cutting edge, and if you dont keep them clean they will not perform nearly as well. Freud, you are a woodworkers BFF.

I cut slots in an end grain black walnut cutting board with this bit. It had zero issues. Nice product.

Spend the extra money and buy a Freud. I used to think the Bosch bits were the way to go, but these are way better and make cleaner cuts at all speeds. I mainly work with oak, couldn’t be happier with the performance of these bits.

When it comes to straight router bits, you have to stick with Freud. Just like their saw blades, these hold up the best. I have on many many occasions shattered router bits by other manufacturers. Only Freud has stood up to my abuse. They cut very well, smoothly. Despite cutting many feet of MDF, this particular product is still as sharp as it was on day 1.

Well worth the money compared to other brands. These do the job really well.
