My college-age son has one of those IKEA Kallax bookcases in his room. Its tall and narrow - about 58H x 32W or 150 cm tall x 80 cm wide. Normally it serves as a great divider in his room. WELL. He just bought one of those Oculus Rift S virtual reality headsets for gaming, which has turned out to be way cooler than anyone here expected it to be. When you have the headset on you are often standing, and lots of games make you feel like youre in another place. So when you hear a BANG! from the other side of the house, you know he just swung his arm straight into his bookcase because hes swinging a virtual weapon or grabbing an object in the game hes playing. So the bookcase had to move. But because it looks so cool where it usually is, and the added privacy it normally offers adds a little happiness to college pandemic life, it would be great if it could be moved back and forth easily. In comes the 3” caster test. Concerns about 3 casters rolling around a tall narrow bookcase - would the wheels be strong enough? YES - would the wheels allow the bookcase to move off and on the rug its on easily? YES - would the wheels pivot well but not be crazy loose like a runaway shopping cart in a tornado? YES - good movement and not loose at all - would the bookcase be wobbly due to its shape or weight? NO - would the bookcase look weird because its even taller than before? NO - would the height of the wheels allow a Roomba to get under the bookcase? YES The casters-plus-bookcase have been 100% perfect in every way. (Photos show the amount of stuff in the bookcase plus closer up of the wheels underneath). FOR SCREWS we used coarse thread screws (4 for each wheel), which have a wider gap between the threads than most other screws. They’re better at gripping things like the garbage MDF (aka wood particle board) the bookcase is made of. Only 3 of each 4 screws catch under the bookcase because of whatever filler is actually in the base of it, but its fine. Very tight and solid. If you do a project just like this one its a good idea to drill pilot holes first. Regarding small kids: As much as this whole thing is stable and non-wobbly, I wouldnt want something like a tall narrow bookcase on even the strongest locking wheels around very young children - that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Has my review been of help to you? If so, would you consider hitting the helpful button below? Id greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

    Greater than one week

I ordered 2 sets of the 4 wheels to install them on a couple shop tables Im building. I saw nowhere in the description that screws were part of the pkg, so I didnt expect them; not sure what a few of the 1 star review people are complaining about. After installation, the wheels roll and swivel very smoothly. The locking mechanism and flange work great and are easy to get to with my foot if mounted properly. The only problem I had was the Out-feed/Assembly table ended up 7/8 taller than my table saw. Of course my mistake, and I was happy to see the same wheels also come in a 3 version. I have no reason to suspect they are not identical to the 4 wheels so I am ordering them now. Very good sets of wheels indeed imho. Edit: I just received the 3 wheels and they are indeed the baby brothers of the 4 wheels. Because I had the 4 installed already, putting these 3 wheels on literally took less than 5 minutes. Totally happy with everything about these wheels. On another note... Concerning people complaining about no screws being included. How could they know what length or gauge screw you need for your application? I used 1 1/4 #10 screws because I mounted my wheels against two 3/4 pieces of plywood laminated together. But maybe somebody else mounts theirs to a 6 block of timber; they might use 5 1/2 long screws. There is a huge cost difference twix the two screw sizes. Point being, I would rather they stay in the business of selling just wheels instead of charging me and sending screws that probably wont work anyway.

I liked the oversized slot for the bolts. I used them for a heavy, home made work bench.

I have purchased both sizes - the 2 and 3 casters (for different projects). - The 2 casters come with screws and a screwdriver - The 3 casters come with bolts & nuts and a wrench These roll nice and work well. Both sizes are dual locking (both roll and swivel stop when locked)

Well made, looks good. Rolls and locks easy. I like that the wheel and swivel both lock. I usually only lock 2 out of 4 and it holds steady for most work. I will continue to buy these for everything I build in my woodshop.

These casters are beautifully made and have a very clever mechanism to lock both pivot rotation and wheel rotation. I am very impressed with the design and manufacturing quality.
