> 24 hourModified it slightly to fit through the old hole drilled in the stock bumper on my 1992 F-350. Works well. My only gripe is that the spring on the 7-pin connector door hinge was not strong enough to really snap the door closed. I ended up pushing the pin out, twisting the spring another turn and putting back in place, and reinserting the pin. (I dont recommend doing this, you might end up damaging the door and hinge.)

> 24 hourYep this is a good product. Go ahead and save yourself the headache and buy a brake controller right now. I should have purchased the 79.99 brake controller when I ordered this connector and in the pinch of the moment I then had to buy the exact same brake controller for 126.xx in a store to get the job done. Save yourself that 46 dollars and order a brake controller, in that regard, I would recommend a brake controller that has the custom pinch feature to truly control the trailer. The rig that I just set-up was a 2004 f250 v10 and the trailer Im preparing is a large 27 foot puma camper with bunks. This was a good 7 pin connector, plenty of wire and very easy to install in your factory spot. Sturdy aswell, NOT chinsy.

> 24 hourHaving already setup my vehicle with the 4 flat trailer wiring I decided to upgrade my plug setup for the 7 round plug also in preparation for buying a trailer with brakes. After having purchased this adapter I had assumed that I could simply plug in my 4 flat plug into the connector here and all the basic functionality of brake lights, running lights, and turn signals would work with just the reverse lights, brakes, and power wire not working. Unfortunately after purchasing the trailer I discovered it wasnt quite so simple... After doing some more digging around I noticed that while my 4 flat had a ground, for some reason the multi-tow adapter had a separate ground that had to be connected separately. I was able to rig it up on the fly to get the trailer home, but keep that in mind if wanting to use this as a straight adapter for getting a trailer home on short notice. Overall this product is okay for the money. Only time will tell how it will hold up.

> 24 hourI purchased this for an install of a tow package on my wifes 2011 Chevy Traverse. There really isnt any place to securely mount this on a 2011 Traverse. I had to fashion a 1/2 inch thick metal spacer to be able to use it. I dont recommend buying this for a Chevy Traverse as it wont work unless you have the ability to cut, drill and install a .5 thick piece of metal stock. It was a PITA but only took 20 minutes because my neighbor had a drill press and metal cutter. The product its self is well built and works. The supplied bracket is not overly sturdy and you must use caution when plugging in a trailer as it could easily be bent.

> 24 hourI returned it. It was delivered to late to use. I bought one in time from Autozone for the same price when I needed to install it.

> 24 hourI love this adapter. Very affordable, and has many applications. I use the 7 pin connector on all my vehicles and trailers. But on the family farm almost every think still uses the 6 round, including the vehicles. Nowhere have I found a 5 pin round (vehicle end) to 7 pin blade (trailer). So I buy these and cut off the 4 pin flat (on the wire harness) and connect the wire harness to a 6 pin round vehicle connector. So now I have a 6 round to 7 blade and a bonus 4 pin flat adapter to plug into the farm vehicles so they can pull my trailers. I find that you can buy 7 blade to 4 flat, or 5 round, or 6 round adapter. But no one makes a 5 round to 7 bladed adapter. Surely Im not the one with this need..

> 24 hourMy Explorer came with the standard 4 flat wire attachment. However, all wires necessary to complete the 7 pin connector are pulled right under the right rear tail light. I was able to tap into 2 of the additional 3 wires needed at this location. NOTE: I also put on a 2 receiver which required the removal of the rear bumper. This greatly simplified access to these wires, which terminate into a junction/connector. Even though Ford provides all the connections, the blue wire for the trailer controller appeared to be only 14-16AWG (unmarked) although it is fused for 30A. Since multiple internet sources recommended 12AWG minimum, I chose not to use the blue wire provided but to run a separate 12AWG line up to the battery and fuse it for 40A (circuit breaker actually). I actually ran a duplex (2wire) cable just in case. The two that I deemed useable were the orange (B+, aux power) which I soldered to the Black wire from the 7 pin; it(along with RT and LT) are fused at 40A which should be sufficient. I also used the Black w/green stripe (Reverse, BU) which I soldered to the Purple wire from the 7 pin. It is fused for 20A so shouldnt be any problems there either. I really like the way the manufacturer sealed this item, and maintaining the option of using either 4 or 7 pins is really nice.

> 24 hourI used this to add a 7 way RV to style plug on my tractor, replacing the factory option 7 pin Ag plug. I like that the back of the connector is potted and the wires were a good length.

> 24 hourOn my particular car, there was no easy, inconspicuous, place to mount the bracket for this adaptor so I had to get inventive and make a special bracket to attach it to the car. Again, thats a design flaw of my car, not the unit itself which otherwise is excellent and works beautifully.

> 24 hourWorks great. I had to change my factory 7 pin plug because I upgraded to a heavy duty hitch vs the factory one that was too small and I lost my mounting bracket that was attached from factory. There was someone else who talked about how flimsy the mounting bracket is and I have to say that has not been my experience. Used a couple oversized self tapping 5/16 sheet metal screws to hold it down screwed it in and it works perfect. Install was simple and sweet, wired into my Factory 01 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins with butt connectors and heat shrink tubing, then taped it all up to protect any exposed wires. Will put up the wiring schematic for 2nd gen 98.5-02 rams if anyone else needs the info. Might be same for other Dodges, but I cant say.
