HTC Vive Base Station

These things are like indestructible or made of Nokias because they fell from a like 13-15 ft ceiling multiple times while on and still work perfectly fine.

One of my Vive Pre base stations failed. These were the earliest versions, so they dont automatically turn off. It had been running continuously for almost a year, and likely succumbed to vibration induced damage. It had spent some time attached to one of those extending floor to ceiling poles a lot of people have been recommending, but the outer housing of that pole wasnt snug against the inside part, allowing a bit of rattle. Anyway, even though they are vastly different versions, they seem to be working fine. I have them in Wireless mode right now, with no tracking issues after a week of testing.

We got a used headset and needed the base stations and new controllers. Ordered these base stations and they work great except for one of them. The bottom inlet that you are supposed to be able to use to mount the base station to stands or wall hangs does not have threading. The back one has threading but we are unable to angle the base station if it is attached from the back. As it is now, with not being able to angle, we have deadspots when trying to map our room area.

I normally have never had any problems with refurbished items. However, when arrived not only did it not have the power cable but when I used a different power cable it turned on but there was a blinking red light. Which means there is an internal mechanical error. Next time I would hope they checked their products more carefully before sending them back out.

HTC and valve really need to figure out inside-out tracking, the lighthouse system is becoming archaic in the face of the quest 2

I like that it will work with other headsets too like the Valve Index for when I get that. This was definitely a good buy.

I purchased this to use with a Pimax 5K Plus VR headset. It works as advertised.

I bought 2 of these base stations and they worked fine for about a month and a few weeks and then one stopped working all together with the blinking red light, which means it is unusable and needs to be replaced, lucky for me I contacted Vive and the base station was still in warranty so I can get a replacement for free. The other one is still fine and works properly so I’ve just been using one until I get my replacement.
