IIT Jumbo 51Pc Drum Sanding Kit - Fits Dremel - Includes Rubber Drum Mandrels - 1/2, 3/8 & 1/4

Below is my previous review of this product, I have ordered a second time because, at the price, I like it. This is good collection of sufficient quality and great quantity and variety for anyone who uses Dremel or other rotary tools. Great Price for disposable parts. I have found the graduation from 1/2 Dia., and 3/8 dia. sander to 1/4 to be useful where I previously used only 1/2 and 1/4.

Nice assortment of drums and covers for under a ten spot. I use these mostly for wood carving projects but I always use a slower speed setting. I havent found any such sanding drum covers that will take much high speed use or much pressure for that matter. Use a little patience and a light touch and you can get a lot done. Your bearings will last a lot longer also. With any power tool, ALWAYS wear real eye protection glasses or goggles over your regular glasses or a full face shield. Dremels and such tools rotate at an incredibly high rate of speed, usually to fast for proper dust or chip removal and cooling. On their high settings, this is dramatic in terms of surface feet per minute. The larger the drum, the more surface feet per minute at any given rpm. Dont ask more of your tools than they are designed to deliver and you will be fine.

Much better price than name brand drums but tend to fit loosely on the mandrels. Good cutting ability but they wear quickly on hard surfaces. Overall a good value for occasional use.

The sanding cylinders are slightly inferior to Dremel, but you cant beat the price for the set. I just wish they hadnt packaged the various sized cylinders inside each other (in concentric-cylinder fashion), because they tend to stick together, and it drives me nuts trying to get them apart. Functionally, theres really nothing to debate--you put it on your Dremel and grind away.

Sorry for being a little over dramatic but the 3/4 diameter mandrel is not designed for high speed dremels. Or not the ones that I received. The two that I received bent 90 degrees in my dremel tool without ever applying them on to my project. It was a good thing that they didnt snap off or slip off and hit me in the face or gouge a piece of plastic off my project and sent it flying. It was also a good thing that I had a firm grip on the dremel because the dremel could have fell out of my hands. I have used the smaller 1/4 & 3/8 mandrels without any issue. Im afraid to use the 1/2 ones. FYI: The Dremel brand aluminum oxide sanding drums last longer than this brand. Its worth spending a little more to get longer lasting sanding drums. The seller claims Outstanding value & quality - turn your Dremel or other rotary tool into versatile high-speed sander. This is not true for the set I received. EDIT (Nov 2, 2012) The seller contacted me and offered a refund or replacement. I opted for the replacement of the 3/4 diameter mandrels. I wont use these larger mandrels on a high speed dremel, but I will say they work fine on a drill press (lower speeds) and I guess on a dremel where you can adjust the speed. The seller has my respect for doing the right thing and replacing the damaged items.

The sanding paper fits loosely in the drum, but when it is spinning, it doesnt come off. It works, but I have to be careful not to loose the sanding paper.

This set has worked as advertised and the multiple sizes are very useful.

Works well, not as durable maybe as the name brand ones, but they work.

The sanding rolls slide up and down while Im trying to sand an item. This makes the work really slow, inaccurate, and irritating! Im only going to buy real Dremel products from now on.

The quality is good, easy to attach the drums, and they work fine. Good abrasive on drums and they last a long time. Very happy with this purchase.
