The jacketing is rubbery vs the normal plastic used in a lot of wiring and its also alot tougher to cut. This actually makes more difficult when running it thru wall chases in old construction and less likely to be affected by temperatures when done in unconditioned spaces. Also seems like the over all durability is far superior to previous speaker wire Ive used in the passed. As for the sound system Ive run as much as 40 in one runner and it is crisper than the smaller runs of speaker wire that came with my sound system.
