The i5 10400 is an amazing 6 core 12 thread cpu for the money only being 30 dollars more than the i3 10300. Its a little bit more powerful than the Ryzen 5 3600 and is a better value for the money. Its much smaller than I expected which amazer me. It keeps cool with the stock cooler with 30c on idle and only reaching around 60c with heavy gaming.

I bought two of these, one for a budget office build for myself and a gaming build for my son. I paired his with a GTX 1660 super and it performs pretty well, not as good as a 12400 or Ryzen 5 3600 or 5600x, but very close. Only downside going with a 10th gen instead of 11 or newer is the lack of PCIe and m.2 gen 4 support, although neither PC needs those features as neither will saturate the bandwidth of gen 3 fully. The integrated graphics will run some light games (among us, CSGO, etc. ) At lowered settings. The included cooler is as bad as its always been, it works, loud and temps arent great, but it works. I would Suggest finding a better solution (I went vetroo V5). Buy this CPU if its on sale for $140 or less, otherwise go 11th gen or Ryzen.

Estaba indeciso entre comprar el i5 10400 ó Ryzen 5 3600, en videos observaba que el i5 se comporta levemente mejor en juegos y levemente peor en renderizado y multitarea. Mi objetivo principal era hacer un PC gaming para uso personal, no requiero renderizar videos, y aunque lo necesitara, sé que este procesador puede hacerlo sin problema. Comparando precios es imposible no recomendar el i5 sobre el R5. La relación FPS x dólar invertido es mucho mayor en el lado de Intel.

En mi opinión para gaming y tareas de productividad este procesador puede llegar a ser mejor que el ryzen 5 3600 en varios aspectos, ademas su precio esta por debajo que el ryzen 5 3600

This processor works flawlessly with Mint 20 Cinnamon. The hyperthreading and gen 10 adds about 15% boost compared to my previous i5-8500 that lacked hyperthreading.
