Great quality and it works perfectly!

This was a six-pack of taps, but I only needed one of them to tap eight 6-48 holes for two receiver-mounted picatinny rails. Worked great, I have no complaints, and have zero hesitation recommending this product for those who need one. Good Luck!

Purchased the tap more as a thread chaser to clean up threads on rifle receiver. This worked great for cleaning out old Blue Loctite from the scope base screws.

This tap has the common thread pitch for shotgun sights and is very difficult to find in stores; if not impossible. I have a Remington 870 express magnum shotgun which has the front ball sight pressed in; not threaded. After removing the ball sight, I used this tap to begin threading the hole. The hole is very shallow though, so once the tap hits the bottom, I had to dremel off the tapered bottom so I could continue tapping the threads all the way down to the bottom of the hole. For the price, the one time use didnt bother me : )

The tip of the tap (which will not make threads) is a bit longer for a bottoming tap but the quality of the tap is OK and it fits very well on the threaded holes of the rifle leaving a clean thread.

It did what it supposed to do on my savage 12fv. Needs to be lubricated to push excess metal pieces. 4 stars cuz of 2 days late delivery.

This was a used tap that had been modified and wire-brushed. The end was ground off, it still had metal shavings and gunk on it, and it was not an Irwin brand product. It looks like someone is buying used/surplus tooling and selling it as new on Amazon. I only have two holes to tap and I dont have time to wait on a replacement. I guess Ill deal with it.

Seems well made, but did not use, since appeared would have enlarged threads for Savage 12 FV scope bases too much, and ended up not even having to chase threads in order to mount Warne 7666-20MOA picatinny rail.

There are three basis types of taps: flute, plug and bottoming. This is a flute tap, not a bottoming tap, the photo does not include the flute point at the end of this tap. It looks like the bottom of the tap in the photo has been cut off in the photo. This lead me to believe the description, which said this was a bottoming tap, which it is not. Unless I want to grind off the point of this flute tap, I can not use this tap.
