> 3 dayThe smart outlets with hub from another company I was using went out of business bricking my current setup. So the search began for a new smart outlet company. After finding and using these I can see why they went out of business. These are way better so far. Pros: 1. Surprised to find outlet no longer has wire pigtails like their intall video shows. I prefer this any way because pigtails with extra wire nuts take way too much room in electrical box. 2. NO HUB required! 3. Outlet install super easy....Ive changed many outlets before though. 4. Separate control of each plug. 5. Adding outlet to Kasa App took less than a minute. 6. They look great and have a nice finish to them...they dont look cheap. 7. Tamper Resistant. 8. App was really quick to respond to user input and nice design. 9. One of my applications is for heat tape on plumbing Ill turn on at random times depending on winter temps...anyway, the timer option in the app is nice option because I dont need to run the heat tape all that long and now I can turn it on and set timer to turn it off automatically in 20 minutes or something so if I forget and remember 3 hours later I know I was covered. 10. TP-Link company brand recognition (I may not have bought otherwise since Kasa didnt mean anything to me) 11. NOT made in China. Cons: 1. Only comes in white? Luckily Im putting these in garage and attic spaces so it didnt matter much for my current application but I would love to use these inside my house as well but entire house is light almond. 2. Screws for wire terminals are short and dont have a limiter on them like normal outlets do so if you unscrew them too far the screw falls out. No big deal for normal application but if you are installing in attic and dont know this like I didn’t youll be searching thru attic insulation to find the screw. Which I found and now I know! 3. An option without a wall plate would be good. I use decora style wall plates and would want them to match...but these outlets dont come in light almond any way so non starter for me for inside my house. 4. Scheduled events in App can only be 31 events PER PLUG. No big deal normally but Im using one of these for a hot water tank recirculation pump that I want to run for 5 minutes every hour in the winter. 5. Other issue with scheduling is related to #4. You have to create a separate schedule event for ON and OFF operations which adds up. If scheduling could just have a start and end time option I could cut the amount of schedules I need to create in half. Again, probablly no big deal for normal applications.

> 3 dayWe built a new home (3100 sq ft) and every switch in the house is Kasa and we have absolutely no regrets. In our previous home we used a few z-wave switches and paired them to a wink hub. This overall was pretty good but it wasnt good enough that I wanted to do the whole new house in them so I went looking for another solution/path. I ordered a few different switches. paired them up with our google home and ultimately ended up with Kasa as our choice and ordered 70+ switches (this included some dimmers, some not, as well as their 3 way kits). We got them all installed, paired up and just like in my previous test, every last one of them worked flawless. Below are a list of positives: -- DIMMER SETTING - The dimmers have a awesome feature where you can set the lowest level of dimming so that if your bulbs pulsate or anything you can get rid of that. -- Operation speed - no matter if controlling via the actuall switch or throug google home the speed is instantaneous. This is one things that blew my mind as our previous z-wave/wink hub combo would often take a few trys and/or take a second to actually turn on. -- The Kasa App - There are a few other products in our home that are not TP-Link brand and while they work fine, the applications that you have to configure the device in and/or the application that you pair up with Google Home seem like an afterthought. The Kasa app is a solid piece of software that literally has worked flawlessly as we paired all of our switches. The Negatives (dont let these sway you to not buy but...) -- the size of the switch. If you have a ton of wires and or a super shallow box in the wall it may not work or you may have problems pushing it in. I noted the size of the switches to the builder but it unfortunately didnt make it to our electrician and they used standard sized boxes. The switches all ultimately fit but some of them took some work. (BTW.. this is a universal problem amongst all smart switches. -- REALLY NIT PICKY --the switches come with a beautiful screwless plate however if you have a multi gang box (multiple switches in the same box) then you will need to find another plate. We tried a few screwless designs and ultimately stuck with these plates but the switches dont fit perfectly flush with these plates. This is especially true if you have dimmer/non dimmer/3 way switches in the same box as all of those switches seem to have different thickness backing plates on the switch. Overall, these are awesome, work great and I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!

> 3 dayThis is an affordable way to implement a dimmable light into your smart-house schematic. However, installation comes with some gotchas that I feel are unique to this product. For one, at least for me, line and load were the opposite of what colors the wiring in my wall indicated. Secondly, there is a riser under the screws that the wires need to go UNDER for the switch to work properly. Knowing this beforehand would have saved me some time and trouble, but after a few tries I got things working. Thankfully, setup with the app was very simple. I do wish there was a way to customize the dimming as my light doesnt turn on until the dimmer is set to about 65%. The app seems to allow this, but it never works for me. Im not sure what it actually does.

31-03-20253 nice things about this dimmer: 1. Allows for local control, meaning that you can control it with Home Assistant. 2. You can turn off the backlight (in case you are using it in a bedroom and dont want the wall switch lighting up the room. 3. If you need to reboot the light for some reason, you can push the bottom right small button One SUPER annoying thing about KASA devices: They now FORCE you to create a cloud account just to connect these to your wifi. I absolutely detest this practice. Once I connected the light, I blocked all internet access to these (and every smart IOT device in my house) using my OpenWRT router. Overall recommended. I have many of these devices for the reasons listed above.

> 3 dayOnce upon a time, I was just an ordinary person with a boring old light switch. But then, I discovered the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 and my life changed forever. This switch is truly a game-changer and I can confidently give it a 5 out of 5-star rating. First off, lets talk about the installation process. I was a bit nervous about this at first, as Im not exactly a handy person. But much to my surprise, the installation was a breeze. All you need is a neutral wire, which my house had, and youre good to go. No hub required, no complicated wiring diagrams, just a simple and straightforward process. Once I got the switch installed, it was time to put it to the test. And let me tell you, this thing is incredible. The Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 allows you to control your lights with your voice, through Alexa or Google Home, or through the Kasa app on your phone. Its so easy to use and the dimming feature is truly a game-changer. But the real standout feature for me is the scheduling option. You can set your lights to turn on and off at certain times, which is incredibly useful for when youre away from home. It gives you peace of mind knowing that your home appears occupied, even when youre not there. Plus, its just fun to mess with your friends by having your lights turn on and off at random times. I have to say, the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 has truly revolutionized the way I use my lights at home. I love that I can control the brightness and color temperature of my lights with just a few taps on my phone, or by asking Alexa to do it for me. Its also really handy when Im settling in to watch a movie or read a book, as I can dim the lights to the perfect level of brightness without even getting up from my seat. But what really sets this switch apart is the fact that its so easy to use. Even my technologically challenged grandparents were able to figure out how to use it with no problem. And if they can do it, anyone can! The app is really intuitive and user-friendly, and the instructions that come with the switch are clear and easy to follow. Another great thing about the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 is that its incredibly reliable. Ive never had any issues with it disconnecting from my Wi-Fi or failing to respond to voice commands. And on the rare occasion when I did have a question or problem, the customer service team at Kasa was quick to respond and really helpful. One of my favorite features of the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 is the ability to create scenes. With scenes, you can set up multiple switches to control different lights at the same time. For example, I have a scene called Movie Night where I dim the lights in the living room, turn off the overhead lights, and turn on my table lamps to create the perfect atmosphere for watching a movie. Its so convenient to be able to control multiple lights with just one command! I also appreciate the safety features of this switch. Its UL certified, which means it meets rigorous safety standards, and it has a built-in safety shut-off feature that prevents the switch from overheating. This gives me peace of mind knowing that I dont have to worry about any safety issues. Finally, I have to mention how great the Kasa app is. Its so easy to use and has a ton of features that allow you to customize your smart home experience. You can set schedules, create scenes, and even monitor your energy usage to see how much money youre saving on your electricity bill. Overall, I would highly recommend the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 to anyone looking to upgrade their home. Its easy to install, fun to use, and adds a touch of convenience to your daily life. Plus, its just plain cool to be able to control your lights with your voice. So go ahead and buy it, you wont regret it!

> 3 dayI like these things...they dont need a hub and just work. With a voice command through Alexa, a tap on the phone or a timer I can add or remove power to everything plugged in. And you can control the top separate from the bottom. The Kasa app lets me know the runtime of the outlet as well, which I like when Im trying to cut costs while electrical rates are going up. Note that even when the outlet is off, it does still draw power as it needs to be connected to WiFi. So the 120V output is off, but itll still draw something.

Greater than one weekMake sure you use LED bulbs if you have multiple bulbs connected to this switch as this switch only allows 350 watts. Bought this to regulate the time my front porch fixtures come on in the eve and turn off in the morning. I have three fixtures with a total of 14 bulbs, with 60watt regular bulbs my wattage was 840, the switch kept clicking off due to over heating. Switched the bulbs to LED, 6 watts per bulb and reduced to 84 watts, the Kasa Smart dimmer switch works great. I set my schedule and my lights come on at the time I set every eve and go off at the time I set in the morning. Easy to install, a bit tricky to program but go step by step as listed and you will get it done. Im a 59 year old that has a technical interest.

Greater than one weekIt is nothing major. The only negative things I would say is that the switch doesnt a tactile feedback when switching on and off which I expected to feel. Another thing is I would make installation videos explaining what goes where for people who arent highly profiicient electicians.
