Kester 24-6337-8800 50 Activated Rosin Cored Wire Solder Roll, 245 No-Clean, 63/37 Alloy, 0.031 Diameter

I typically use another formula of Kester solder. Decided to give this a try. It works very much like more common Kester solder. I noticed much less residue. It seems to have a slightly higher melting point and a bit less flow (I do through-hole components). The difference is small and the decreased residue is a real plus.

I made some research before ordering and found that Kester seems to be the brand to go for. I was tempted by cheaper products from others but in the end I did go for Kester 245 no-clean core solder 63/37. I am soldering not too much and wouldnt call me a professional but even as a hobbyist I noticed a difference between cheaper 60/40 I had before and this one. I am not sure if that is because of the 63/37 grade or because my previous stuff was from some unknown manufacturer but in the end I dont care. I feel it was the right decision to go with the Kester product. It works for me well.

This stuff was so difficult to use, I dont think mine had any flux in there. Would only clump up trying to use it.

In general I like working with this solder; but it does tend to collect, or glob up on the end of my soldering iron. Its very sticky. But it melts easier than the lead free stuff. I guess you should make sure youre in a well ventilated area when using this stuff, I dont think breathing in the lead solder fumes can be good for you. Im using it mostly for arduino, raspberry pi, embedded programming type circuits. Havent tried it w/ any SMD components yet. It will take me a long time to go through all of this solder, you get a good amount for your $. Id buy it again and look forward to practicing more with it.

Es la relación estaño plomo que tiene el punto de fusión más bajo, para soldar componentes delicados sin dañar los circuitos impresos o flexibles. Viene en un envase de cartón, no muy sólido, que es bueno conservar, para evitar el contacto con la piel, pues contiene plomo. El flux lo tiene internamente y fluye muy bien, es mi marca preferida, sin duda.

This is great solder, one of my favorites. But Kester really blew it on the packaging. Rather than a full box, the spool is in a topless cardboard hexagon. There is strapping tape over the top, holding the spool in. Unfortunately, the tape is also stuck onto the only label on the spool—so you cant open it without ruining the label. Im not sure what whoever designed this was thinking...
