Klein Tools MM600 Multimeter, Digital Auto-Ranging, AC/DC Voltage and Current, Temperature, Frequency, Continuity, More, 1000V

over the past 4 years of owning this meter it has proven to read inconsistantly and has finally past 2 years slowly fail. all fuses are good good batteries and 0 misuse and yet the display barely displays the top half of the numbers auto function will not auto range and will not read DC current just ignores the input. It appears to be rugged and tough and feels good in the hand but the primary use of this meter is to analyze electrical systems. NOPE doesnt do that.

Industrial quality, nice big display and even came with a case. Ill be passing this on to my grand kids.

Meter is difficult to use.

Replaced another multimeter with this device. Use it almost every day at work, very rugged.

A rugged unit - seems to be accurate - I compared it to an older voltmeter and it shows the same readings - uses 2 AAA batteries

This Klein MM600 seems perfect try fine as a general purpose electrical multimeter but for temperature measurement (which I why I brought this specific model) it is terrible. Mine is way off by about 8 degrees C (approximately 15 degrees Fahrenheit) at temps between degrees 25-40 degrees (77-104 F.). I called Klein and was told that this is within the accuracy tolerances which according to the manual are 0.1degrees C plus or minus 9 degrees for the multimeter plus or minus 1 degree for the thermocouple plus or minus 2%. eg if you wanted to test the boiling point of water which should be 100 degrees the reader could give you a reading between 88-112 degrees and be considered accurate - a 24 degree difference that only gets worse as the temperatures increase. Worthless.

DC function doesnt work so the quality is questionable at best. step up and buy a Fluke or UEI.

Upon first use, this tool seems to be top quality and very accurate. Price was reasonable and shipping was fast. Will take a while to fully understand all that this meter can do. Only minor complaint is trying to get the meter out of the plastic container. This plastic must be what they used to protect the space shuttle because I had one heck of a time cutting this meter out. I almost damaged the nylon case because it was right up against the plastic. Not sure why this is necessary.
