These start out very dense balls of 4-5 and exfoliate without scratching. After use of a month or two they grow in size to about 8 which is too soft causing you to press harder and maybe scratching yourself due to the now exposed binding in the center.

As other reviewers have mentioned, these loofahs loosen up and start falling apart almost immediately. I got these for Christmas and started using them immediately. Six to seven showers a week for less than a month, and the one Im using is already in worse shape than my old one these loofahs were supposed to be replacing, which is *several years old* and still tight. In short, while they are very pretty, and also very much complete junk. In the photo Ive uploaded: the one on the far left is the old one I was replacing, the middle is the new loofah Ive been using for less than a month, and on the right is what the new loofahs look like right out of the package.
