> 3 dayI am new to wiring. I wired my new surround sound with Mediabridge. The banana plugs, wall plate and wire with a two colors for positive and negative was very helpful. The banana plugs grabbed the wire for connection.

> 3 dayThese banana plugs work well when used with cables no bigger than 12 gauge. Here is my reason for giving a low score. The build of the plugs is not the problem. The gold portion of the plug unscrews exposing a hollowed out round piece. The bottom piece of the plug will take 8 gauge wiring. That is as much as it will go. The hollowed out piece might be able to 12 gauge with no problem. If it is going to hold an 8 gauge wire like the 12 gauge, then the smaller piece needs to accept larger cable. This of course would make this plug much larger. The bottom portion of the plug can accept 8ga to secure the cable to the plug you would have to go with a 12 ga to 18 gauge. Anything else you require to do some type of soldering. The way the cable is secure is by pushing the cable through the smaller hole and fanning out the cable equally around the hollowed out piece. Once this is done you can add the top portion of the plug to secure the wire. Not really meant for larger cable. than 12 gauge. If it does you would somehow have to secure with solder or wrap electrical tape or heat shrink. Even then I would not say it is secure.

Greater than one weekVery impressed with the quality and value of these connectors. They have a good grip that allows easy connect/disconnect. Connecting the speaker cable is not real easy, as you have to feather the strands of wire around the internal center post. But once secured they did not come apart when attaching them to the receiver.

17-04-2025I originally ordered the Amazon Basics banana plugs but had to send them back. They were slightly less expensive than these Media Bridge plugs, but the Amazon Basics plugs didn’t fit well at all with my Paradigm speaker sockets. They were extremely loose I’m my speaker sockets. My guess is that the Amazon Basics plugs are 3.5 mm whereas these Media Bridge plugs are the full standard 4 mm. If you closely study the pictures of the two brands of plugs you can see the difference in the bayoneted design. The Media Bridge plugs are a very secure fit for my speakers and I suspect the majority of you readers out there too. I like the compact design (only about an inch long) and the wire crimping mechanism (screw on) is just as secure as the set screw types of plugs if done right. I would recommend these speaker plugs to others.
