This is the worst one “in my opinion” of the bunch because this one even though it looks nice and comes with refills in the bottom tray it is empty there is no flex in the bottom which you need to have when your dipping your tip all the way down and as it’s hot disorder in contaminants get scraped off from the brass wolf wool, Buy another brand because the flex alone is about eight dollars I would never buy this again I keep it for a spare

The set that I got has copper-plated steel pads. Not brass, like stated in the description. The holder is pretty nice though. Just a little expensive for copper-plated steel pads.

i thought it was brass because it said it was. magnets dont attract brass.

Long time stained glass worker just getting back into the hobby. Always used a wet sponge to clean tip and decided to try this as the sponge still left a not so clean tip to work with. After using this for a few minutes I could not believe how much better this is. The tip comes out so clean and no more rough surface when you are soldering a delicate piece. Only down side is I attached it to the work table and had to pull it up when I started a larger piece. For now I am using Command Strips to hold down so I can move it when needed rather than the duoble sided tape it came with.

A tool like this only has one purpose, so you should be able to expect it to do that one thing well - and this one does. The price is reasonable and they send several replacement sponges. The description says they are brass, but they sure look like copper to me. Whatever they are they work well. The base and hood are very light-weight formed metal. They wont take a lot of abuse, but for most uses they shouldnt see a lot of abuse. I may try to add some weight to the base just so it doesnt shift around on the table when cleaning the iron tip. Nothing fancy, but does the job it was made to do.

Does the job and is neat and easy to use

Better than the sponge my solder came with and I especially like that it has replacements so it will last me a while.
