> 3 dayMelissa & Doug wooden puzzles really are my favorites; they are sturdier and better made than my sons’ other wooden puzzles. I have a two-year-old and a four-year-old. For my younger son, the eight piece Melissa & Doug Vehicles Jumbo Knob Puzzle is the perfect transition from the three-piece Melissa & Doug Jungle Friends Jumbo Knob Puzzle he was starting to outgrow. The pieces are smaller, more like the pieces from the Melissa & Doug chunky puzzles we own, but instead of being raised like the chunky puzzle pieces, there is a nice big knob on them, which is perfect for my two-year-old’s younger, more uncoordinated little hands. The pieces are colorful and big enough that both my boys ended up playing with them as if they themselves were toys; my four-year-old is currently flying both the helicopter and airplane pieces around our living room. If you have an older preschooler, like my four-year-old, they would probably be happier with the chunky puzzles, but for the younger toddler set, the Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob puzzles are just perfect.

> 3 dayFairly disappointed - the price claim to be wood on the detail page but misleading. The pieces are made of MDF board which is essential saw dust glued up with a paper laminate on the surface. If your kids still put their toys in their mouth sometimes, this is not going to last long, paper is going to peel off. Also you need to wipe off all the dust underneath the toys - very messy and not safe for small kids.

> 3 dayBig knobs reduce frustration for both the baby and parents. When it is time to clean up, the knobs make clean up so much faster!

> 3 dayI almost didnt buy this product because of the negative reviews. The puzzle I ordered came shrink wrapped and in perfect condition. The pieces and frame are made of thick wood and all of the pieces have knobs, not like in the picture. I called Melissa and Doug because I was concerned about the negative reviews. They told me that the pictures are not painted, but they have a high quality laminate on top. The pieces are not made to get wet, but they shouldnt fall apart if a little moist sometimes. In my opinion, a one year old should be doing puzzles with supervision so they can learn how to do a puzzle. The pieces should not be used as a chew or sucking toy for a long period of time. Even solid wood will warp if put in mouth and chewed on for a while. One year olds do like to put everything in their mouths though. My grandson did put the piece in his mouth for a few seconds a few times, and the piece did not start to fall apart. The knobs are solid wood and my grandson prefers to put the knobs in his mouth rather than the piece itself. Its reassuring to know that the knobs are screwed, not glued, so I dont have to worry about them falling off. I highly recommend this product. Just use it with supervision and dont allow your child to use the pieces as chewing or sucking toys.

> 3 dayI tend to write reviews on my favorite items. Our one-year-old grandson loves these Melissa & Doug, large-button puzzles! Because of the large pieces, they are safe and easy to hold with small hands, yet are enjoyable and educational for older toddlers and young children, as well!

> 3 dayI work in a childcare center and I bought this puzzle for my class for Christmas. I read through all the reviews and I saw that there seemed to be different opinions and reviews on whether the puzzle pieces were painted on wood or stickers/decals. I was pleased with the puzzle when I received it. It seemed to be very well constructed and the pieces were very bright and perfect for grasping. I took the puzzle and gave it to them at 7 am on a Monday morning. By 10:30 that same morning one of the puzzle pieces was ruined. It is stickers/decals on the puzzle pieces and part of the decal had already been scraped off revealing grey cardboard underneath. I still think Melissa & Doug puzzles are very appealing to children and Im not saying that I wont buy them in the future, however I did want to let people know that they are stickers/decals on the puzzle pieces, not hand painted wood like I think they were in the past. I did read the age suggestion before I bought it and it was in the appropriate age range for my class. Infants and young toddlers chew on everything...especially when they are teething. The decals/stickers on this puzzle are on the piece very well, but little teeth can scrape the sticker/decal off so just be aware before you buy. My actual star review would be 3.5 if I could actually rate it that way.
