I was in need of a new set of micrometers for work. I work in a machine shop and use them on a daily basis. Mitutoyo is my go to for all my tools. I know that when I buy something from Mitutoyo that its going to work and last a long time. While Ive only had them for about a month now, theyve done nothing other than what theyre supposed to do. Id definitely recommend these to anyone in need of a quality micrometer. The only thing left to test is how long its going to last.

Ive been calibrating micrometers for years and in my experience no 1 micrometer comes close to the Mitutoyo 103-260 for value. If someone tries to tell you that a Starrett or Tesa/Etalon/Brown & Sharpe is worth spending more on, theyre either remembering the good old days, or havent used one of these. We use about a dozen of these micrometers where I work, in a press room where they spend most of their days coated in coolant and mistreated. Theyre occasionally overtightened and Im pretty sure some have been dropped, yet every single one weve put out there still works as well as the day we got it. Every one still reads accurately to within ±.0001 over its entire range. Sure, after a year they sometimes come back for calibration a little bit off zero, but thats easy to fix, and I see the same thing from every other brand.

Very high quality, well worth the dough!

After using a brown and sharpe this one feels much better. It is very accurate. I am using it for my engine rebuild and I get repeat measurements to the .0001!

Genuine product was .0005 off of zero but easily fixable
