MSI Full HD Rapid-IPS 1ms 2560 x 1080 Ultra Wide 200Hz Refresh Rate HDR Ready G-Sync Compatible 30” Gaming Monitor (Optix MAG301RF)

This is a tldr review first impression since Ive not had it long. I bought direct from Amazon rather than 3rd party. I received all necessary items, including the power brick. So if youre worried buy from Amazon certified. The monitor impresses out of the box, feels fast, has pleasant color reproduction. No noticeable artifacts. Ips bleed was very good on my model, barely noticeable. Out of the box it might be crushing blacks which is odd for an ips, is probably fixable with some tweaking. Its worth noting I used 165hz 10 bit, which might be affecting things in normal 8 bit rgb range. Not worth doing since HDR support is an afterthought but its also doubtful this monitor can hold 200hz stable. That is just how it be with these ips screens. It is way better than normal FHD, the extra fov you get is fantastic. edit: Automatic aspect ratio is broken, so on games that dont scale to 16:9 even with GPU scaling enabled require you to go into the OSD. It is a missed opportunity that you cannot make a shortcut to aaspect ratio config. This monitor has poor gamma settings, night vision is the closest to a gamma setting, but it just overblooms things. AI Nightvision is just weird as well. Other than that the colors on this monitor are really, really good. It is fun to play with, and those negatives dont affect gameplay, but if youre like me it will eat at you slowly. Unfortunately there arent many good options in the 30in UW category (34in is too big for me)

Im using it and it is very nice for gameplay and watching videos, this monitor is more colorful than my old one, and there is a very strong color gamut and the width does not make people feel tired, Pretty and nice

Its not well optimized for gaming, it only does 1080p with games that dont support ultrawide like valorant and warzone. It also stutters a lots of ghosting and it doesnt stay at 200hz constantly. But this is a great monitor for productivity and multitasking. good picture and color quality.

Es necesario considerar que trae un cable de alimentación que no rinde para las especificaciones, constantemente se apagaba, es sensible a las variaciones de corriente mínimas, recomiendo cbiar el cable de alimentación por uno adecuado y deejor calidad, más allá de ese detalle es bello probar sus 200hz y el IPS. Buen producto. Doy 4 estrellas por el detalle del cable.

There is NO Power Adapter in the package. How am I supposed to turn it ON?

I use this monitor for both work and gaming and it has been handle itself well. It is easy to quickly adjust the setting to either gaming or work. I don’t have a big desk and this help me save a lot of space

I can’t say there is anything I dislike about this monitor. I’ve had it for about 2 months now and gaming on it has been a real joy so far!

First i bought acer phiblix 31.5 used 5 mins and took back to bestbuy absolutely disgusting pixelate picture all gray If you compare with samsung on left blacks are much deeper on samsung,strangely this one is grayish, dont have gray on my 27inch mag thought now comes the boss, MSI MAG only caviats on it the big ugly leg and the height of it is narrow not like the 27inch msi ones USER FRIENDLY INTERFACE, god that button is amazing just annoys when clicks in feels cheap sound ok to buy for work for home get qhd 2 msi 27inch ips ones and done

I use this for my Xbox series X, great size and has multiple adjustable levels for tilt and height. The base is pretty big in my opinion as Id prefer it had a sleeker stand. Says HDR ready but it doesnt register on the series X as HDR compatible. The monitor doesnt have a HDR on option either but when you see the display info for frame rate it shows HDR off. Maybe Im missing something but overall good monitor for the price.

This monitor fills a very specific niche but it does it well. I love ultrawides but 34 is too large to be used everyday comfortably for me. Also, 2560x1080 is an easier resolution to drive than 3440x1440. I have a RTX 3060ti and it is perfect for this monitor. The colors out of the box are kind of washed out with very little pop. I had to mess with various settings to get the vibrant effect I like. My unit came with zero dead pixels and very little back light bleeding (even with high brightness). The HDR compatibility is almost a waste of time. The monitor itself doesnt get that bright and turning it on doesnt really do anything for most games. The only game I see a difference on is Doom Eternal and it absolutely makes the colors bright and vibrant. It really looks fantastic. I suppose its how the actual game was designed and not the monitor itself in most cases. Fun Fact: if you create a custom resolution in the Nvdia control panel you can enable 10 bit color up to 191hz @ 2560x1080. I dont see a difference but maybe somebody will. The 200hz feels super smooth and is very responsive. Blur busters UFO test shows nice details. Minimal motion blur. I hate VA panels due to the smearing effect. This is really the only monitor in town that is an ultrawide 30inches, IPS and 200HZ. Black frame insertion is present and actually works but due to the low brightness of the monitor it darkens the pictures a little too much for my eyes. Some games look good . Some dont. Its nice to have the option though. Minimal gamer aesthetics. With the exception of the RGB strip on the back this looks like a normal monitor with a normal stand that doesnt stick out too much. You can turn the RGB strip off in the settings. In the end Im super happy with the monitor and would recommend it to anybody looking for these specific features. I paid under 300 w/tax for this and I feel its a steal for that. There is lots of value here.
