Easy to install and has a large suite of port control capability. I actually didnt need a managed port device but this was cheaper than the unmanaged version.

I bought the original one locally. Adding this one to the mix gave me the ability to fire up LACP. It works. Anyone saying it doesnt is either reviewing the wrong product or doesnt know how to set it up properly. Its an un-managed, dumb switch. Well, with an interface. Technically, you can shut/no-shut ports and tag VLANs and stuff, but its not a managed switch in the technical sense. It does quite well, and outside of the LACP config it can pass about ~997 mb/s without any issues, getting warm, or dropping traffic. Only issue Ive come across is the cable management but thats easy to get around. I, primarily, use belkin cat6 riser throughout the house, both for trunk and patch lines, and its a lil bit too stiff and cumbersome for the cable management. Nothing to dock it for any reason. Id normally 4-star a product like this because it just works, but ill 5-star it because there have been zero issue with this thing. I am running the firmware it shipped with (which I guess is old as ****, v1.0.0.2) and Ive had no issues, so far.

On sale, this switch is worth a buy if youd prefer something managed for the home environment. Not on sale is a bit of a toss up. The management interface isnt all that impressive. It seems to work well enough with the basic functionality you would expect but I find it odd that some functions are slow. Not talking cable tests but like just opening up certain pages it takes a second to load. I like to zoom around a lot faster if its on my LAN. Aside from the performance, lets talk about design. What was marketed as an excellent aesthetic turned out to be sub-optimal in practice. The main gimmick is the rear panel has a hinged plastic lid that conceals the ethernet connections. the cables themselves are said to fall into a grooved plastic surface beneath this lid. Problem, the grooves are way too small so the cables dont sit down thus the hinge is always half cocked up. Like the hood of a car someone didnt slam down hard enough. Now the cables Im using are UTP cat5e, nothing massive and it still doesnt sit down. If youre using slimline cables, it will sit but dont expect a super clean aesthetic.

This switch has a ton of features for the price, both cosmetically and functionally. A 20 dollar managed switch with LAG support is a rare thing. Not to mention the added bonus of charging ports and a cover to hide the connections. If I was forced to say something negative about it, it would only be that the management software is touchable from all ports, so if you were planning on exposing it past your firewall to the internet, you may have a bad time.

My family room has a smart TV, game system, gaming PC, and external storage. This allowed me to pull a single cable from my router into the family room and then wire everything from this switch. In this configuration it can get slower if everything is requesting internet data at once, but it works much better than wireless and typically is not an issue (we dont watch a movie and game at the same time.) This switch has worked without complaints. We have two Logitech remote control units that are powered by USB ports, so I was able to remove two plugs for those to open a space for the router and then power the Logitech remotes through the USB ports on this device. It worked out well.

works as intended. I like the fact that this unit has the cable management cover.

I got this switch to split the signal so I could hardwire my TV and other devices instead of using them over WiFi. I ran a cable from the router to the switch, and plugged my gear into the switch. It worked like a charm. I am probably underutilizing its capability, but it works for my purposes.

Stay away from NetGear products in general. This little beauty was only about $16 or $17 but when it broke down after about a week or so it not only took 10 days to resolve with NetGear, thats 10 days with my network in a shambles, but they were nice enough to make me pay the return shipping on the defective switch, thats right, the switch that they screwed up I had to pay to return before they would send me a replacement and the cost of shipping $13.65!!! This is the last time I buy from NetGear, this is just horrible customer service to make a customer pay twice the price for an item that they screwed up on, NEVER AGAIN! , 8/15/20: Update, Now the second one has failed, not sending it back, Ive already paid $30 for a $16 switch and Im not going to add another $14 to the price, GOODBYE NETGEAR!!!!!
