So, I have a D40x so I need to be careful which type lens to buy. Im learning more now but when I started, it was tough to find a review that pointed directly to this model of camera. Im giving the short compact review for that particular model owner. I wont go into the specs as someone already did quite nicely. Short and sweet, the lens works fast and well. Low light is an issue with this camera. This lens improves that scenario GREATLY. As a single mom of college kids, I need to be super careful about the money I spend. If I were to go back to day one and remaining in my budget, I would get this lens and

I learned photography back in the early 1970s on a 35 mm film SLR with a 50mm f1.8 prime lens. In my opinion, a standard prime lens is the very best way to learn photography and is a welcome addition to any photographers lens collection.

This is a great lens and a must have for anyone looking to shoot in low light situations. Ive taken video with this camera in extremely dark environments and the results are always amazing. This is a definite for any camera bag.
