> 3 dayThis is one of the best portrait lens I have owned. The lens is sharp at f1.8. Light weight and works great with my Nikon z6. I would strongly recommend this.

> 3 dayI decided to upgrade so I wouldnt have to use the FTZ adapter and the Tamron 85 1.8. It is smaller and lighter especially since you dont have to us an adapter. To me ,when comparing the Tamron 85 to the Nikon 85s lens I dont see much of a difference. Auto focus may be faster, it may be sharper in the corners, or sharper overall. It is a lot lighter and smaller. From my usage, so far I really didnt see a big difference. I guess if you shoot test charts then view them at 3 - 400 % you can see one is better than the other. So am I returning the lens? No, because this lens should last a long time and if the Tamron 85 1.8 from 2016 is as close in performance to the Nikon 85 1.8 from 2019 manufactures have probably reached a limit to what can be done at certain price points.

> 3 dayI cant say enough good things about the 85mm 1.8s.. This focal lenth on a crop sensor Z50 completely destroys backgrounds.. @f2.8 1/250sec eye auto focus worked like a dream in the low light while wearing masks and hats.. I also rented the 135mm from sigma and the F mount nikon 85mm, the 85 1.8s was faster focusing, more accurate and also much quieter than the others. For a few months I also owned the Z mount Viltrox 85mm 1.8 which is comparable to the Nikon for speed and accuracy but the Viltrox is slightly softer at 1.8 (and also stopped working after 1,200 shots lol).

> 3 dayLike any professional wedding and family photographer, Ive got war stories of my gear taking some serious damage. After damaging my old Nikkor 85mm f/1.4g lens beyond repair at a wedding, I was presented with a dilemma: repurchase that same lens, or buy the new Z-Series 85 f/1.8 S lens.

> 3 dayA great prime lens, for a reasonable price (compared to the zoom lenses). I like the f1.8 aperture, which makes this such a fast lens. I’ve had great results using it indoors for candid portraits.
