Gained speed and a drop in temp all thanks to OWC and their excellent SSD drives.

I brought One of OWC 240 GB Mercury Extreme 6G SSD and attached it to their OWC Accelsior S PCIe Adapter for 2.5-inch SATA 6G into my early 2009 Mac Pro 5.1. What A difference once loaded, it just flies, IMHO money well spend.

Restored my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 with the OWC 1 TB Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD. My old MacBook Pro went from taking 8 minutes to boot to under 30 seconds. If youre making the change from HDD to SSD for the first time, youll be amazed at the difference. OWC has a great reputation, and so far, Ive been thrilled with their products.

Worked nicely with my External Monitor for 4K and high-speed recording.

Great drive! Installed on 2011 MacBook Pro 17in. Such a difference in speed. It was taking 15 minutes just to boot up, now takes less than 2...It used to take FOREVER for photos to upload and edit. Now loads in no time with no lag! Definitely recommend if you have an older MacBook running and HDD...difference is night and day!

Easy to install, worth the price! It beats buying a new Mac, thats for sure.

PRO: Arrived quickly. Installation was not hard (after I had to buy a couple additional items) CON: Actually getting it to function. Using this on a somewhat older MacBook. The drive formats and appears fine in Disk Utility, no issues. The OS will also load from an installer or internet on to the drive... but then thats it. Upon start-up, it is not recognized, and no OS actually starts-up, just flashing error symbol (again, even though the OS is there on the drive). Ive tried a few different work-arounds, but so far nothing has worked. On one attempt to clean reformat, the SSD was bricked by an error and could neither format nor repair any more. 200€ down the tube. NOT happy!

These use to be made in the USA. All my previous OWC ones I’ve purchased were. It’s been a couple years since I bought a new SSD drive. But I’ve always used OWC for MacBooks. This is the first time the label reads being made in another country.
